Independent production company Wise Buddah has expanded the number of commissions it has successfully secured from BBC Radio in the New Year.

The indie, headed up by broadcaster Mark Goodier, is working on seven new commissions from BBC Radio 2 and the World Service, ranging from documentaries on some of the world's biggest artists, to specials on popular culture around the world, including the music scene in China and the history of the soap opera.

"This is quite a diverse range of content to be working on for the BBC, covering music legends but also looking at TV soaps and the music scene in China. It demonstrates the breadth of production talent expertise within Wise Buddah," explains MD Mark Goodier.

Tom Waits and Coldplay will be the subject of documentary specials for BBC Radio 2, while Elton John will be the subject of a three-part series. In addition to an eigth series for the successful 8x1Hour long Courtney Pine's Jazz Crusade, Buddah will also be producing a two-part series on the history of the TV soap (A Slice of Life) for Radio 2.
