Disc Makers Announces Six Finalists For The 2004 Independent Music World Series Midwest Showcase

Disc Makers, the nation's leading independent CD and DVD manufacturer, has announced the six finalists for the Independent Music World Series (IMWS) Midwest showcase. From over 1,000 submissions, TAXI, the industry's leading A&R company, selected 100 semifinalists. From this list, the editors of Billboard magazine selected the six finalists who will perform at the IMWS Midwest showcase event. The artists chosen to compete for over $35,000 in music gear and prizes are: the Full Flava Kings (Tulsa, OK), Nadir (Westland, MI), Rebel's Advocate (Iowa City, IA), Shipwreck Union (Grosse Pointe Farms, MI), The Etiquette (Milwaukee, WI), and The Its (Chicago, IL). The IMWS Midwest Showcase will take place on May 13th at The Elbo Room in Chicago.

The showcase will be judged by music industry executives and media, and will feature live performances from the six finalists. In addition, Disc Makers will produce a

compilation CD for the Midwest region, including music from the finalists, which will be distributed to an exclusive list of industry professionals, radio stations, and record stores.

The $35,000 prize package features top-quality gear and products, including a complete CD manufacturing package, postproduction sweetening, and promotional posters from Disc Makers, a full array of recording gear and the QS 8.2 Digital Keyboard from Alesis, a complete set of DJ gear from Numark, professional Shure microphones, Fender guitars and amplifiers, a 5-piece drum kit from DW Drums, EXL110 Electric Guitar Strings and EXL170 Electric Bass Strings from D'Addario, a free copy of METAJAM from Broadjam, Remo drumheads, a Sabian cymbal package, a oneyear membership to TAXI, and one year of web hosting from CD Baby. Additional event partners include Music 123, XM Satellite Radio, and the Illinois Entertainer.

"Independent artists keep the music industry energized and thriving," says Tony van Veen, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Disc Makers. "The IMWS is one of the ways we at Disc Makers recognize their talent and effort, and reward the artists for their hard work. The IMWS gives indie artists the opportunity to network with industry pros who can help them expose their music to an even wider audience. We are delighted to again join forces with our sponsors to support independent musicians in the Midwest."

Produced by Disc Makers, the IMWS is the country's most exciting and popular live music showcase series, giving musicians a unique opportunity to display their talents, make valuable industry contacts, and compete for the $35,000 grand prize package. IMWS showcases are held in each of four regions throughout the country (Southwest, Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast) and are open to musicians of all genres not currently signed to a major record label. Recent winners have included Dallas' Deadman (Southwest 2004), Richmond's Bio Ritmo (Northeast 2003), Memphis' Gamble Brothers Band (IMWS Southeast 2003), and last year's Midwest winner, Chicago's Orbert Davis.
