Percussion Marketing Council Advocates "Everyone Is A Drummer"


This November is International Drum Month and, with a message that "Everyone is a Drummer!," the goal of this year's celebration is to promote the fact that drumming can be a positive, natural part of anyone's lifestyle. According to IDM Chairman Pat Brown (Director of Marketing for industry leader ProMark drumsticks), everyone from recreational players to serious professionals can take advantage of the emotional, social, cultural, physical, even spiritual benefits that drumming provides. Drumming remains one of the fastest growing segments of the music instrument business and, since it?s easier than ever to find great, affordable instruments, from complete drumsets to bongos and tambourines, there?s never been a better time for aspiring players of all ages to take up the drums.

"One part of this year's program is a contest in Alternative Press Magazine," Brown explains. "The idea is 'Everyone Is A Drummer, Everything Is A Drum' and we're asking readers to send in short solos. Readers who are already drummers can submit their solo on drums. Readers who are 'wannabe' drummers can submit their solo on anything BUT drums. Winners in both categories will be chosen to receive prizes donated by drum and percussion manufacturers."

International Drum Month has also partnered with the teen-oriented website to create an exciting contest for visitors to the site during the month of November. "We encourage everyone to participate!," comments Brown.
