USHER's "Evolution 8701" Tour A Huge Success

Grammy Award winning superstar USHER is currently headlining one of the biggest and successful tours this year-- "Evolution 8701," announced Antonio "L.A." Reid, President and CEO, Arista Records.

With heavy theatrical stage production including pyrotechnics, huge video screens, wardrobe changes, special effects and lighting, the sexy singer has taken his live performances to the next level. Of course, the show would not be complete without Usher's amazing moves, signature abs, and his ability to sing live and dance throughout the entire show. The tour, which kicked off on May 8th, features Nas and Faith Evans as opening acts and is sponsored by Marithe + Francois Girbaud Clothing Company, MTV, Twix Candy and Sean Jean Clothing Company. After he wraps his U.S. tour in July, Usher will prepare to take his tour to Asia, Canada and South Africa in August. Usher will perform on Good Morning America for their outdoor concert series on June 14th and his tour will hit Jones Beach, NY the same evening.

Usher's never-ending energy and success has made him the leading male R&B/Pop artist of our time. Since the release of Usher's 8701 album, he has spawned two consecutive #1 Pop hits and his current single, "U Don't Have To Call" reached #2 on the Pop charts; all the while still remaining in heavy rotation at radio. He has also seen his seven-times platinum-selling album 8701 become an awards show favorite. The entertainer just received 9 nominations for the Teen Choice Awards (airs on FOX in August), 8 nominations for the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Conference Awards taking place in Miami in August, and 2 nominations for the Second Annual BET Awards on June 25th. This past year Usher has already nabbed a Grammy-Award for his #1 smash hit, "U Remind Me;" Soul Train Award for "Best Male R&B/Soul Album" and a Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Award.

Critics are praising the "Evolution 8701" Tour:

The Los Angeles Times declares, "Usher is a skilled singer and a tremendous dancer. In a brief solo number he pulled together a routine hinting that he might give Prince or Michael Jackson a run for their money."

Chicago Sun Times says, "Usher moved like Michael Jackson, offering tightly choreographed numbers with on-key singing while always providing the video screen with profiles of his handsome face and cut upper body."

The Seattle News raves, "The show was sexy! Usher went all out, with plenty of choreography, seven back up dancers, lights, pyrotechnics, fog machines, and costume changes galore!"

The San Francisco Chronicle proclaims, "Usher is so smooth, he literally slides. Usher arrived with a burst of fireworks and an energetic performance and showed why he's made a successful transition. The audience loved it all and sang along lustily to a string of hits."

Cincinnati Enquirer states, "...the 23-year old Atlantan proved you can sing and dance at the same time. Of course, that's how James Brown, Jackie Wilson and Usher's most obvious role model Michael Jackson did it... His concert proved he's a consummate entertainer..."
