LP DEBUTS TONY SUCCAR & MONA TAVAKOLI ARTIST CÁJONS
All-New for 2018 the USA-Made “MT” Box Cajón and Authentic Peruvian-Style “United” Cajón
(January 23, 2018 – Oxnard, CA) Latin Percussion (LP) debuts two new artist signature series cajóns, including the Tony Succar Signature “Unity” Cajon, and the Mona Tavakoli “MT Box” Cajon. Each unique artist model was developed in conjunction with its talented namesake to capture their individual playing style and sound.
Designed in conjunction with percussionist, producer and mutli-instrumentalist Tony Succar, the sleek, modern Tony Succar Signature “Unity” Cajón features a solid pine body and a cedar soundboard embellished with Succar's signature "Unity" graphic. Crafted in Tony's homeland of Peru, which is considered to be the birthplace of the cajón, this all-new model has no interior snares wires, or strings so it delivers the distinctively crisp, punchy sound associated with traditional “Peruvian-style” cajóns.
Producer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer/arranger Tony Succar was born in Lima, Peru and raised in Miami Florida, Succar’s has worked with an impressive array of talented artists including Tito Nieves, India, Jon Secada, Marc Anthony, Sheila E., Arturo Sandoval, Judith Hill, and Obie Bermudez, among others. Succar’s most recent album, UNITY: The Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson reached Billboard’s #1 Tropical Album Music Chart, iTunes’ #1 World Latin Chart, and Amazon’s #1 Latin Pop Music chart and evolved into a nationally televised primetime PBS special that kicked off the PBS Fall Arts Festival.
Designed in conjunction with vibrant, young percussionist Mona Tavakoli, the USA-made, Mona Tavakoli Signature “MT Box” Cajón is made in LP’s California Wood Shop in Oxnard, California. Featuring dual playing surfaces, crafted from Baltic birch and a cross-laminated, pine body, the “MT Box Cajón” comes with four factory-tuned phosphor bronze strings with a unique, graduated three-soundhole design.
Los Angeles-based drummer, singer and performer Mona Tavakoli is known for adapting thee cajón to unexpected genres such as rock and pop. A founding member of all-female rock band, Raining Jane, Tavakoli has been writing, recording and touring with Jason Mraz for nearly a decade. As a solo percussionist, Mona has appeared on A&E’s Private Sessions, where she performed as a trio with Pat Benatar and her husband, Spyder Giraldo and has also worked with Andy Grammer, Colbie Caillat, Keaton Simons, Lindsay Mac, Sara Bareilles, and Willy Porter among others. Tavakoli is also the co-founder and co-director of the nonprofit Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles.
