Christmas Comes Early With Music Heals Gifts To Music Therapy Programs Across Canada
Vancouver, BC, December 8, 2017 – Music Heals delivered Christmas presents a little bit earlier this year by mailing nearly a quarter million dollars in donations to music therapy programs across Canada today. In its first five years of operation, the Music Heals Charitable Foundation has donated over $1.1 million dollars to help grow capacity for music therapist hours in facilities from coast to coast including children’s hospitals and hospices to seniors homes and burn units.
“Our annual allocation of funds from Music Heals help Canadian care centres increase access to actual music therapist hours,” says Chris Brandt, ED of Music Heals. “Awarding to music therapy programs across the country, which is overseen by our board that is 40% comprised by music therapists, each December is one of my favourite tasks in this very rewarding work. We are thrilled to have reached this milestone of giving away over one million dollars since the organization started.”
“The Music Heals money makes all the difference to the Canuck Place music therapy program,” according to Siobhan Aspinall, Director of Fundraising at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. “We can offer it to the 715 children and families on our program. It gives kids with no voice a voice. They can record memories when they say goodbye to their parents.”
