Creative Industry Education Pioneers ACM Launch New Songwriting Pathway For Diploma Students
ACM is proud to announce a new pathway to its Further Education offering. Students studying at diploma level at either its Guildford or Birmingham campus will now be able to choose Songwriting as an option when deciding their specialism.
As innovators paving the way for the future of creative industry education, ACM has offered Songwriting as a pathway on its degree courses for a number of years. ACM has been honoured to offer both a BASCA and Freddie Mercury Scholarship to its students studying songwriting at degree level and is proud to have nurtured many successful songwriting careers including MTV’s Brand New for 2013 winner, Ebony Day. ACM is thrilled to now offer this pathway as an option to its FE students and hope that it will enable them to kick-start their prosperous careers in the creative industries. Senior Songwriting Lecturer at ACM, Kaya Herstad-Carney, said: “I’m so proud of how far all of my Creative Artist degree students have come since the start of their course. Being able to offer songwriting at diploma level is fantastic, as students can really hit the ground running when they go on to degree.”
Accredited by University Arts London (UAL), students opting to study this new pathway - or on any other ACM Diploma course - will benefit from the ability to gain the highest possible Level 3 qualification - worth up to 3 A Levels at A* grade. By gaining such a prestigious qualification, students will not only be able to progress to degree level at ACM, but also have the option to change direction and study at any other institution if they so choose. Kainne Clements, Executive Chairman at ACM, said: “It's a common misconception - mainly among parents, that studying music is not comparable with A-Levels or really academic. The truth is in fact the opposite! At ACM the diploma equates to three A-Levels up to A* grade and better still makes Maths and English actually count as the lessons and assignments are all centered on subjects with industry context. From deconstructing a publishing deal to studying models for distribution, it all counts towards the certificate and teaches our students how the industry actually works. ACM has seen its diploma students double in numbers and become a substantial part of what we do. Our focus on student welfare and practical learning makes it fun and relevant to what the industry needs. I can't praise what our teachers and academic support staff do highly enough - my own daughter is auditioning to join in 2018 - which I hope says it all!"
ACM will be offering this course from both their Guildford campus and their recently-opened Birmingham campus. If songwriting is your passion, find out more by booking onto an Open Day: https://www.acm.ac.uk/open-days/
