Dear Readers,

Welcome to the September/October 2017 Top Women Industry Professionals issue of Shine on Hollywood Magazine!

Ghost and goblins are everywhere you look in Tinsel Town, and soon the turkeys will be running wild and fast as we get ready for the coming holidays, cherishing the company of family and loved ones in the coming holidays. There’s never shortage of talent in Hollywood and around the world as we introduce to you positive hard working artists and professionals, whose stories go beyond the red carpet, the parties and the glamour.

This issue we feature actress Reatha Grey, who started her long prosperous career by entertaining U.S. troops, performing in front of large crowds as she traveled throughout South and East Asia. After returning to the U.S., Reatha landed roles in television series and in films working on a variety of productions ranging from Three’s Company to General Hospital. As her career developed, Reatha opened the Grey Images Extra Casting Company, working on television and movies including Frank's Place, The Slap Maxwell Story, Baby Boom and I’m Gonna Git You Sucka.

She took a break from the entertainment industry to work as a missionary, performing humanitarian work locally and around the world in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Upon her return, she continued to pursue her passion and work, culminating in the fabulous role along comedian Betty White as one of the senior prankster in the award winning show, Betty White’s Off Their Rockers. Her message is that of unity and her advice for aspiring actors is priceless.

We also have the pleasure to introduce to our readers ChorSwang Ngin, professor of Anthropology at CSU Los Angeles. Born in China, her passion for education blossomed during secondary school where teachers from diverse backgrounds and experiences taught her the endless possibilities to be grasped by learning about religions, cultures, languages and classes.

Swang has made significant contributions to Asian American Studies through her work and research, which she now passes down to each of her students, all from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Swang is also a published author and playwright, who along with revered Asian American author CY Lee co-wrote the play titled, The Guest from Nanxing. She is also part of the Orange County Human Relations Council, a nonprofit whose mission is to make the OC community a better place for all to live, to work, to do business and to seek out the causes of tension and conflict, discrimination and intolerance, and attempt to eliminate those causes. Swan is currently in the process of completing a manuscript titled, Identities on Trial: Asylum Seekers from Asia, to be published next year. You’ll definitely want to read her story.
