Hip-hop Artist Batchelor Creates Anthem To Propel LA Dodgers Into World Series

LOS ANGELES, CA – Brent Douglas is one happy super-fan.

His favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, clinched their fifth-straight Division title on Sept. 22, with a win over the San Francisco Giants. It’s something Douglas had been hoping for all season, but as a super-fan who has been following the Dodgers his entire life there’s still one major milestone that he hopes his team can accomplish this year – a World Series title.

In hopes of giving his favorite team a little extra boost during the playoffs – and in hopes of giving the other super-fans an anthem to rally around – Douglas, also known as the rapper Batchelor, has created a new single called “Bleed Blue.”

Not only is this a song that nods to his love for the Dodgers, but it’s also an upbeat, catchy tune that fans everywhere will be able to latch onto and use to identify their camaraderie during this ever-important part of the MLB season.

“This song is like the Dodgers anthem,” Batchelor said. “Hopefully it’s a song that we could use to ride the wave into the World Series. It has a real upbeat vibe – definitely something you could feel if it was played in between innings at the park. Or it’s something to keep you high before a game or play at a barbecue with all your other Dodger fans. I would even say it’s a good song even if you’re not a Dodgers fan, because you can just have fun with it.”

Batchelor collaborated on the song with Glasses Malone and Mr. Criminal, two other LA-based artists who are also avid Dodgers fans. Having worked in proximity to one another over the years, the three found that they shared a love for their favorite team and it eventually became a natural decision to work together to create this new song.

Batchelor has been making music for more than 15 years. He first started rapping right out of high school and dabbled in music off and on throughout the years. About three years ago he decided to pursue his dream of being a professional musician, and after a handful of singles he feels like “Bleed Blue” is the song that can put him on the map.

“When I got serious about making this career, I started a thing called Normal Not Allowed,” Batchelor said. “I try to translate that idea into my music. I keep it about me – an individual who has had a lot of issues and problems and gone through a lot of stuff. At the end of the day I try to embrace that. I also have looked at myself as not being normal, but that doesn’t have to be a negative thing. I embrace it as a positive thing. And when people hear my music I want them to think, ‘That’s a dude who makes good music!’ With ‘Bleed Blue,’ it’s me talking about something that’s been a part of me since I was born. I hope it will put me on the map as a rapper, and some years down the line I can look back and say that it was a very fitting beginning. There’s really no other song that better describes my passion for life and music than this song.”
