IT’S AN ALCOHOLIDAY: THE JOHN LENNON SONGWRITING CONTEST $20,000 ‘SONG OF THE YEAR’ WINNER ANNOUNCED!
Andrew Peebles, Joe Fox and Brett Sheroky were announced as the John Lennon Songwriting Contest $20,000 ‘Song of the Year’ winners for their Country song “Alcoholiday.”
The announcement was made by Ralphie Aversa on 95.5 PLJ in NYC for the fourth year in a row. The Nashville-based group of songwriters won $20,000 in cash in addition to prizes from Audio-Technica, Yamaha, Other World Computing (OWC), Genelec, Disc Makers, Digital Media Academy, Neutrik and more. The winning song can be heard now at www.jlsc.com.
Judges of the contest include many notable songwriters and artists including Fergie, Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), George Clinton, Bob Weir, Jim Steinman (Bat Out of Hell), Sheila E and Sean Paul as well as producers Detail (Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Drake) and multi-GRAMMY winning Jack Joseph Puig (Florence & the Machine, Lady Gaga, U2, Rolling Stones).
The contest is now welcoming entries for Session II, 2017, which closes on December 15th. Amateur and professional songwriters can enter their original songs online at www.jlsc.com, via mail or through Sonicbids to win from over $300,000 worth of cash awards and prizes. Entry fees from the contest help support the non-profit John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, which provides students of all ages with free hands on opportunities to create.
