Hamburg-Based Duo Boy Signs To Nettwerk Records
Nettwerk Music Group is excited to announce the latest addition to its label roster, BOY – a contagious confection that is spreading across the internet like wildfire. Since conquering their native Germany and Switzerland, the Hamburg-based duo is ready to ship their sharp brand of pop to the rest of the world.
Nettwerk will release BOY's debut album, Mutual Friends, in North America early next year, with tour dates to follow. The album has already sold over 100,000 copies in Germany, while their irresistible debut single "Little Numbers" boasts over 6 million YouTube views and counting.
Of the signing, Nettwerk Co-founder and VP of International A&R/Publishing Mark Jowett says, "Nettwerk is thrilled to have signed BOY. They have crafted this album like a perfect diamond…with gorgeous vocals, timeless lyrics and impeccable arrangements. We can't wait to share their fantastic debut with North America."
BOY is comprised of Valeska Steiner and Sonja Glass (neither of which are boys). Steiner sang in several bands in her native Switzerland before moving to Germany, where Glass grew up, playing the cello in classical orchestras as a child, and later working as a bass player for several pop bands. The duo met when they both participated in a prestigious music workshop in Hamburg. Together, BOY creates their own distinct, playful yet emotional sound that only these two charismatic performers could deliver.
