The Digital Music Revolution WILL Be Televised
A new, revolutionary digital music commerce model is imminent, offering a diverse range of music products for purchase direct over digital television sets. Developed by Craze Productions, the service is available through Sky's fully launched and functional eBusiness Portal, Sky Net. A step beyond the comparatively linear "Push the red button" services which exist at present, Sky Net offers the viewer a fully functional website service on their digital television set. Accessible via the Sky Digital remote control, customers are free to search and surf the interactive TV sites and make purchases at their leisure all from the comfort of their armchair. Craze is the first music provider to capitalise on this pioneering new commerce model and, despite still being in its beta version, the Craze dedicated site has already leapt into the Top 5 Hot Site List in the Sky Net portal, within weeks of launch. To access the Craze Sky Music Channel using the standard Sky remote control, go to Sky Interactive Menu, choose "eBusiness Portal" tap in Sky Key 1818, and away you go! The channel currently contains details of Craze's entire music catalogue spanning constantly-updated ringtone versions of the UK's Top 20 singles chart, and ringtones and videotones from the biggest names in Hip Hop, Reggae and Dance music, such as: Warren G & Snoop Dogg, Aaliyah, Ashanti, Boyz II Men, Kool & The Gang, Jimmy Cliff, Liberty X, Missy Elliott, Timbaland and many others The site also included special downloads zone for World Cup 2006 and for the recent worldwide teen buzz ring tone "The Official Mosquito Tone". Alongside detailed descriptions of the Craze products available, the site, currently in its beta version, provides comprehensive information on how to buy Craze products via mobile music short codes. The site is now being developed in conjunction with Sky Net to offer an option for buying Ring tones, Video Downloads, Video Ring tones and Digital Downloads, direct from the TV-Interactive channel in time for an official launch in October 2006. The impending 2012 analogue television switch-off will soon mean the number of homes with a digital television far outweighs the 40% of homes which currently boast a home computer internet connection. As a result, home shopping via Digital TV could reach a far larger market than any previous form of ecommerce. Sky Net is already available to the up to 23 million Sky Digital viewers. And Craze is the first music provider to capitalise on this booming home shopping market. Sam Kleinman from Craze said: "This represents a new and very exciting method of selling Digital Content, for which the initial point of contact with the customer is the TV. TV shows often stimulate viewers to buy digital content, for which the Craze Sky Channel provides a fast and easy service. Whether watching a sports game or a music show, viewers will be able to instantly browse, choose and buy relevant content, with a few clicks from their seat." Following an initial beta run , Craze plans to enhance the site's music catalog with thousands of top songs, and introduce new features such as Music News, DJ Mix Of The Month, and additional youth related products.
