Joe Jackson Signs On With Will Smith For The Stop The Violence Weekend
Joe Jackson’s Hip-Hop Boot Camp and Stop the Violence - Music Your Choice in Life In association with Men United for a Better Philadelphia Present “Philadelphia Stop the Violence Street Festival & Music Competition Weekend” Date: July 22 – 23 Venue: Sat, July 22 – 12noon – 7p Martin Luther King Center – Cecil B. Moore Ave. Sun, July 23 –12noon – 7p Mander Recreation Center – 23rd & Diamond St. Purpose: The purpose of the festival is to bring a positive environment to the city of Philadelphia. This festival will provide an outlet for kids to showcase there talent and to interact with there role models. Men United for a better Philadelphia & Stop the Violence - Music Your Choice in Life will educate the kids against Violence, Guns & Drugs. Because of the need and the importance of this message, the mayor’s office got involved and provided us the Venue, Stage and Sound System. There will be Music Agents, Movie Producers, Video Producers, & Performers of hip-hop and R&B Music. Goal: Our Goal is to inspire kids of Philadelphia to make positive choices and to aspire to become successful and productive members of society. Press Conference: There will be a Press Conference with Philadelphia Mayor John Street & Entertainment Mongol Joe Jackson. Time & Date: 4:00 pm - Friday: July 21, 2006 Venue: The Mayors Office Center City Philadelphia, City Hall Talent Portion of the Festival: The Talent Portion of the Festival will take place on Sat July 22nd; it will be hosted by local radio personality from the Power 99. Joe Jackson’s Hip-Hop Bootcamp will feature local kids auditioning for a panel of Celebrity judges, which will include the legendary entertainment mogul, Joe Jackson. The kids will be competing for one of the 25 featured spots in Sundays July 23rd’s, Talent Showcase, where the talent will be narrowed down to the best 5 contestants. Those contestants will then go on to win a spot on the nationally televised show, Joe Jackson’s Hip-Hop Boot Camp. Education Portion of the festival: We will have Guest speakers teaching the kids about the importance of Education & about the dangers of Violence, Guns, Drugs & Gangs. There will be Role models from hip-hop & R&B talking to the kids about what it takes to be successful in life. He will speak to the kids on the dangers of Guns, Drugs and Gangs. Herbert Fox – Former History Teacher of 25 yrs in the NY & NJ School System and Co-Founder of “Stop the Violence- Music Your Choice in life”. Herbert will speak to the kids about the importance of Education and how to succeed in school. Doobee Warden – Agent for Czar-Entertainment, the Management Company for such artist as: GAME, Mario Winans, Rick Ross & Trillville. Co- Founder of Stop the Violence – Music Your Choice in life, will speak on what it takes to succeed in the music business. Rick Kennedy – Ex offender, Owner of Alpha Media Entertainment. Alpha Media is a successful Film & Media production company, based in Philadelphia. Rick is also the Creator, Producer & Director of the Stop the Violence Film “Close to Death.” “Close to Death” is a powerful docudrama that was filmed in Philadelphia, Camden, New York & New Jersey. It features actual footage of Gunshot Victims, Street Hustlers, Gang Members & Community Activist. The film portrays re-enactments that put you right in the action as seen through the eyes of the victims of this horrible Gun Violence. Rick will speak about the violence in the streets and how it affects people and communities. He will also speak of his own family tragedy, caused by gun violence, which made him decide to do such a power project to educate our community. Shawn “Frogg” Banks – Former Drug Dealer, Owner of Phillywood Entertainment, a successful Film & Media company, based in Philadelphia. Frogg is also the Co-Creator & Narrator of the powerful Docudrama “Close to Death.” Frogg will speak on the dangers of dealing drugs and he will tell his own, close to death experience and why he decided to team up with Rick to make the Powerful Docudrama “Close to Death.”
