Ozzy Osbourne Added To Three More Ozzfest Shows As A Second Stage Headliner
The heat is on. Seriously. OZZfest fans have been buzzing loudly in recent weeks about OZZY OSBOURNE's surprise decision to headline the festival's down-and-dirty second stage at three shows, a move that puts him directly on the front lines with fans—the "Prince of Darkness" in daylight! Now, with OZZfest's June 29 Seattle launch only a few days away, comes word that the rock icon has been added to three more OZZfest dates as the second stage headliner: 7/4 Albuquerque, NM 7/18 Pittsburgh, PA 7/27 Darien Lakes, NY (Buffalo) The news doesn't stop there. OZZY has also announced his only headlining solo concert of 2006, and it's set for July 14 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Kansas City, KS with Black Label Society and two OZZfest supporting acts soon to be named. OZZY has recently been writing songs for an upcoming solo album with his longtime guitarist ZAKK WYLDE, who also fronts Black Label Society. The album's release date is TBA. For each of the last ten years, OZZfest's founder and namesake has headlined the main stage of the summer's premiere touring concert festival as a solo artist or with Black Sabbath. This summer's OZZfest shows—where he'll headline the main stage at seven shows and headline the second stage at six more—mark OZZY's first solo performances in three years. OZZfest, cited as "one of rock's biggest juggernauts" in the cover feature of Sunday's New York Times' Arts and Leisure section (6/25/06), boasts a main stage lineup that features headliner SYSTEM OF A DOWN and such formidable artists as DISTURBED, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, HATEBREED, LACUNA COIL and power metal phenomenon DRAGONFORCE. It's important to note that SYSTEM OF A DOWN, DISTURBED, HATEBREED and LACUNA COIL all started out in OZZfest's trenches on the second stage and subsequently won the approval of the festival's discerning followers. This year's second stage will be headlined by the Zakk Wylde-led BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, with such high-decibel bands as ATREYU, UNEARTH, BLEEDING THROUGH, NORMA JEAN, A LIFE ONCE LOST, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, THE RED CHORD, FULL BLOWN CHAOS, WALLS OF JERICHO, ALL THAT REMAINS, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and BAD ACID TRIP.
