USA Songwriting Competition Winner Success With Faith Hill
Darrell Scott's song "Good Ol USA" will be released by Faith Hill in her upcoming album. Darrell is the first prize winner of the country category in the 2005 USA Songwriting Competition. Darrell currently resides in Nashville, TN. Many USA Songwriting Competition winners in the past have gone on to receive recording and publishing contracts, as well as placed songs on film and television. Other examples include: Steve Tenann, top winner of the 2001 USA Songwriting Competition is now signed to Netwerk Records as part of a duo "The Weepies". Darryl Zero, winner of the dance category of the 1999 USA Songwriting Comeptition had his winning song "Let The Joy Rise" cut by Abigail, which topped many dance charts and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Dance charts. Judges of the competition include A&R managers from record labels such as Warner, Universal, EMI, SONY/BMG Music. Tim Matthews won an honorable mention award in 2005 with co-writers Mary Dana and Cory Batten with their song "It's Not Love". He also won an honorable mention award with "Can't Help Calling Your Name" in 1999. The same song was cut by Jason Sellers on both of his RCA/BNA albums. Besides Jason Sellers, Tim Matthews have had cuts by Neal McCoy, Marcel Chagnon, Jeannie Kendall (of The Kendalls), and Lauren Lucas. Entries for the 11th Annual USA Songwriting Competition are currently being accepted. Winning songs of the 2006 USA Songwriting Competition will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated radio program “Acoustic Café” as well as XM Satellite Radio. Entrants vie for a top prize of $50,000 worth cash and cool music gear from Sony, Ibanez Guitars, Audio-Technica, Peavey, IK Multimedia, Keyboard magazine and more. This is the first Songwriting Competition that gives airplay to the winning songs, giving deserving bands, songwriters the recognition and exposure they deserve.
