Music Producer Named In Payola Case Arrested
February 6, 2006 (Fort Wayne, Indiana) Dirty Boyz artist/producer Julian Rowe has been arrested in Fort Wayne, Indiana on forgery charges by Fort Wayne’s Sheriff’s Department, warrant number 06-01141 for case number D0601-CM-0000. http://indianasmostwanted.com/warrant/02.579417 Further, Rowe has felony charges pending in Osceola County Florida. Fort Wayne’s legal system is honoring a “No Bail Hold” placed against Rowe by Osceola County, while Seminole County has a pending Class C felony theft complaint against him. Rowe’s Seminole County, FL complaint (case number 2005-249-058) and investigation stems from a recent payola controversy that connected his Dirty Bottom Corporation with WPYO 95.3’s (Cox Radio) Program Director, Phil Becker and alleges they fraudulently took direct payments for radio airplay, and arranged for radio promotion which was not delivered. This complaint is currently before the Seminole County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution according to Detective Mike Johnson of the City of Casselberry (FL) Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Becker left WPYO after these allegations were levied and subsequently became the Program Director of WJFX 107.9 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the city where Rowe has been arrested for forgery. Other allegations surrounding the Seminole County, FL case indicate the team attempted to use material produced by Rowe and co-written by an independent artist, Ariana Stewart (a minor) to broker a deal for their Dirty Bottom Corporation and deny her use of the material, which she co-authored and recorded with Rowe. Ms. Stewart immediately severed ties with Dirty Bottom Corp and Julian Rowe and continues to move forward in her music endeavors.
