"Tributo A Rage Against The Machine...En Español" In National Distribution
Against all odds, Rage Against The Machine connected with an audience that was eager for quality hard rock combined with in-your-face social relevance. Their following has not been limited to the US, as they are hugely popular in Spanish-speaking countries, not only because of Zach de la Rocha's Latino heritage, but the message of empowerment they provided and the sonic quality of their playing. But while many knew they stood for progressive principals and could appreciate the tremendous force of their music, if they did not understand English, these fans were not able to grasp the full impact of their lyrics. El Relámpago Música and eleven bands from México, Argentina and the US, in coordination with Verdad Y Justicia have collaborated to present the message of RATM en español. Because the bands understand the message of social change needed globally, they have agreed to provide their interpretations as a charity effort, sanctioned by NARAS's GRAMMY Foundation, with the label's profits going to benefit the GRAMMY Foundation. Tributo a Rage Against the Machine...en español includes contributions from Timmy O'Tool, Dragón Zaga, Spigga, Stoic Frame, La Banda Skalavera, Nefalim, Inner City Soul, Coatl, Pro-fé-cia, Afixión and Cabeza de Gallo. Interpretations range from the straight-out hard rock tributes to hurban-funk and cumbia, making an eclectic package appealing to the Rage fan eager to hear this seminal band's greatest songs performed in Spanish. Tributo a Rage Against The Machine...en español will be released by the Verdad Y Justicia Label Group through the Navarre Corporation to hit stores November 15, 2005. The first focus track is Spigga's version of "People of the Sun," complete with charming B&W video featuring the band and Spigga member JosWho?'s kids. The track is also featured, in a slightly shortened "Radio Edit" form, on Spigga's Debut "06105: The Mixtape" on Supermercado 23 Records, to be released simultaneously via Navarre.
