Musician's Can Now Connect On-Line - Easily
A solo performance may touch the heart and soul of an audience, but for the serious musician or singer, there's nothing more enjoyable than performing with other musicians. Until recently, finding the right musician for a professional performance or a casual jam session meant posting a flyer in a music store or depending on word-of-mouth. Today however, through the use of an innovative Internet site, that missing bass player or singer is only a mouse click away. Musician's Lair is a new website that provides an easy to use on-line environment where musicians, singers, and bands can locate and interact with other musicians. The site, located at www.musicianslair.net, enables musicians of all levels of abilty to connect with fellow artists, via a selective and comprehensive database. Through the use of usernames and on-site private messaging, all searches on Musician's Lair remain completely anonymous. "The original idea for the site came from my own frustration," explains musician and site developer Mike Horton, "I became dissatisfied with the traditional way of finding people to play with. I usually posted a flyer in a music store and hoped the right people would happen to see it. There was no way to screen musicians and I ended up wasting a lot of time." With Musician's Lair, individual musicians or bands post an extensive user profile describing pertinent search information including instruments played, ability level, general interests, music style, and location. Photographs and audio or video clips may also be included in the search profile. Musical groups using the website can identify and fill empty positions, while solo musicians search band listings for just the right opening. The newest feature of the site is the opportunity for members to create their own web page. A Musician's Lair member can now create his or her personal web page without the purchase of a domain name or special programming skills. Members simply choose from numerous pre-formatted areas and customize by adding their own content, including photographs and audio or video files, and their preferences in navigation styles, font sizes and colors, backgrounds, and borders. Member Links, another popular feature of Musician's Lair, allows members to submit advertisements, website links, photographs, audio or video presentations, and other information showcasing their experience and abilities. Website members may also post ads to sell various items in the Classifieds section, climb up on their soapboxes to discuss various topics in the popular Forum section, or even create and print customized flyers to advertise their upcoming performances. Whether you're needing a blues guitarist for a friendly jam session, looking for the perfect vocalist to complete your quartet, or just aching for a passionate debate on electric guitars versus acoustic, Musician's Lair is where your successful search begins.
