LOS ALTOS, CALIFORNIA (July 6, 2005) - Recordare LLC, an Internet music software and publishing company, announced today that Sibelius 4 has included support for Recordare's MusicXML 1.1 format for digital sheet music. Sibelius 4 comes with a built-in MusicXML 1.1 importer. Enhancements to the ManuScript language in Sibelius 4 will allow Recordare to add MusicXML 1.1 support to a new version of its Dolet for Sibelius plug-in, scheduled for release later this month.

Sibelius 4 is the latest release of the flagship music notation product from London-based Sibelius Software Ltd. With the addition of MusicXML 1.1 support to Sibelius 4 on both Windows and Macintosh OS X, sharing music notation files with colleagues who use different programs has become easier and more reliable.

Jeremy Silver, CEO of Sibelius Software Ltd. commented, "Adding MusicXML to our new version, Sibelius 4, achieves a better workflow for our customers as they import files from other programs. By supporting the MusicXML format we believe we are providing Sibelius customers with greater flexibility and choice."

"We are delighted to see MusicXML 1.1 support in Sibelius 4," stated Michael Good, CEO of Recordare LLC and the inventor of the MusicXML format. "Sibelius has long told us that they would add MusicXML support only when they saw sufficient customer demand for it. This is a milestone in MusicXML's acceptance within the music software industry."

The MusicXML format works with over 40 different programs running on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux systems, including:

- Notation programs such as Sibelius 4
- Scanning programs such as PhotoScore Professional
- Electronic music stands for organ and piano
- Sequencers
- Algorithmic composition programs
- Programs to create play-along CDs
- Tablature editors

This combined support makes MusicXML far and away the most widely adopted music notation format since MIDI.
