Bookmark and Share
Committed to raising the profile of young, talented UK musicians - 10 UK bands have been chosen to compete against 30 other bands from across Europe in the continent’s largest ever online music contest – the Wanadoo Discoveries. Now is the time to rally support for your favourite UK entry as the polls will be open to vote between the 7th and 21st of April 2005. The winning entry from the UK will then go head-to-head with the winners of the other European countries.

Several hundred thousand votes were cast on Wanadoo's European portals when Wanadoo Discoveries was held for the first time last year. The winner of this year’s major international contest will win the chance to have their own promotional campaign paid for courtesy of Wanadoo, which will include a promotion on a radio station of their choice, plus the chance to play alongside major international music acts at the sell-out Wanadoo Discoveries concert taking place in the South of France in May. The likes of Jamelia, Craig David, Alicia Keys and Christina Milian all performed at last years star studded event.

The Discoveries contest aims to raise the profile of talented young musicians who have just signed their first recording contract and is voted for totally by web users. In the UK, the 10 young artists competing in the contest were selected from among hundreds of potential candidates submitted by some of the largest record companies such as EMI, Mercury and Hot Records.

The 10 UK artists competing in the Wanadoo Discoveries 2005 are as follows:
• Clor Pop Rock from London
• Kubb Pop Rock from London
• Dear Eskiimo Pop from Manchester
• Roland Shanks Punk Grooves from London
• Mortimer Retro Pop from Kent
• The Vibrants Rock from London
• Claire Nicolson Folk from London
• Black Swing Electronic Dub from London
• Eskimo Disco Disco Pop from London
• Belle Park Rock from Oxford

The 10 UK artists will compete against artists from the other countries where Wanadoo operates in Europe – France, Spain and the Netherlands. You can listen to all 40 finalists from the 7th April 2005 at www.wanadoodiscoveries.com.

Web users who have voted in the contest will be able to participate in a grand prize draw, with the chance to win thousands of prizes.
