Eminem Named Artist Of The Month For March
Eminem's string of awards and honors continues today as he is named Artist of the Month for March, 2005 by MPFree (www.MPFree.com). Artist of the Month is awarded each month to the artist whose music was downloaded most frequently by MPFree members. During March, more MPFree members downloaded Eminem's tracks than any other artist. "There was a very slim margin of victory between Eminem and second-place finisher, 50 Cent. It really came down to the wire," said Phil Nadel, President of MPFree. The third-place finisher for March was Ciara. The most downloaded single during the month of March was "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent. Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" was second. MPFree.com is a web site that provides its members with a legal way of getting totally free music downloads. "We're giving our members the best of both worlds˜a huge selection of music downloads that are both 100% free and 100% legal," said Bill Diamond, Co-Founder of MPFree. MPFree members vote for Artist of the Month by downloading music from their favorite artists. "Since we have more than 500,000 members," said Nadel, "the results are really a proxy for the public as a whole." The concept for MPFree came from its sister site, PhoneHog.com. PhoneHog is a successful rewards program founded 5 years ago that gives its members free long distance calls when they take advantage of special offers. www.PhoneHog.com has more than 4 million members and has given away more than 100 million free long distance minutes to date. MPFree utilizes the same basic model, but gives away free music downloads instead of free long distance
