Sony BMG Music Entertainment Appoints Managing Directors For Hungary, Czech Republic And Poland
Maarten Steinkamp, who heads Sony BMG's operations in Continental Europe, today appointed Managing Directors for three Eastern European countries as follows, all reporting directly to him: * Margit Geszti, Managing Director, Sony BMG Hungary * Zbynek Knobloch, Managing Director, Sony BMG Czech Republic * Piotr Mackowiak, Managing Director, Sony BMG Poland "I am delighted to announce these key appointments," commented Mr. Steinkamp. "With Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland all having recently joined the European Union, the economic and cultural importance of this region will continue to grow. Margit, Zbynek and Piotr have the talent, vision and dedication necessary to ensure that their territories make valuable contributions to the future of Sony BMG." Margit Geszti most recently served as Managing Director, BMG Hungary, since 1991, the year the repertoire center was established. Under her leadership, BMG Hungary enjoyed impressive growth and became a leader in local repertoire. Prior to that she was an executive at Phoenix Studio, one of Hungary's leading recording studios. From 1982 to 1990, Ms. Geszti held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in the International Department at Hungaroton Record Company. Zbynek Knobloch most recently served as Managing Director, Sony Music Central Europe, since 2003, where he achieved great success with both local and international repertoire. Prior to that, he served as Managing Director of Sony Music's operations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for five years. Mr. Knobloch joined Sony Music Bonton as Managing Director in 1998 having previously worked at Czech multimedia company Bonton since 1990. He became Director of Bonton Music in 1993, which went on to become the most successful independent label in the Czech Republic. Piotr Mackowiak most recently served as General Manager, Sony Music Poland, which he joined in 1998 as Marketing Manager. He was promoted to Marketing Director in 2001 and also took on the responsibility of deputy to the Managing Director of Sony Music Poland. During this time the Sony Music achieved great success with both international and local repertoire. Under Mr. Mackowiak's leadership, Sony Music Poland has enjoyed impressive growth.
