New Jazz Label For Unsigned Independents
TEXAS - - January 15, 2004 - - A new Jazz record label will soon open its doors as a new easy vehicle for artists who are experiencing difficulty marketing and promoting their music. Fittingly titled, "Jazz Records," the company is headed up by President/CEO Kenny Love, who also owns MuBiz.com. "Actually, MuBiz.com is offline and in hiatus for the next several weeks, as I put the final touches on the label, as well as revamp MuBiz," says Love. "The label is, sort of, an expansion for me, but has always been a place where I wanted to end up, in terms of marketing and promoting artists. However, we just placed an expanded ad in the upcoming South by Southwest's 2004 Texas Music Directory for MuBiz, so we definitely want to see what results come from that. Plus, I want MuBiz to still be available for artists who are not signed to Jazz Records, but who still require independent radio promotion, media publicity and other administrative services that MuBiz.com offers." Serving, largely, as a re-issue label, Jazz Records is currently reviewing several artists in order to select its first release. "While the label will serve a two-fold purpose for artists, with that purpose being to release both new product, as well as re-issue product, our primary focus is on artists who may have had some local or regional success with their recordings, but not any national success," Love says. "Many artists have great recordings, but after struggling with the promotional process on just a local level, they become frustrated and give up, never reaching their true national or international potential. Jazz Records has been specially created for those particular Jazz recording artists who have recordings that may be from one to several years old but, again, have not enjoyed national prominence. Additionally, we are interested in looking at multiple recordings from artists, then selecting songs from multiple releases as well."
