GoGirlsMusic.com Turns Eight Years Old, Celebrates with music events all year long
Houston, TX…In 1996, Madalyn Sklar had a vision of bringing together female musical artists around the country. Eight years later that vision, GoGirlsMusic.com, has grown beyond her wildest dreams. Sklar’s dedication to female musicians across the county has propelled GoGirlsMusic.com into the oldest and largest online community of independent women musicians.
Since its inception, GoGirlsMusic.com has become a welcome destination for women in music, offering them many opportunities for showcasing their talents, networking with industry insiders and educating themselves at GoGirls sponsored events.
In the last four years, Sklar has raised the awareness of the website by producing the GoGirlsMusicFest, Invasion of the GoGirls, Last Band Standing, and other GoGirlsRock! events. In addition, she has spearheaded over 70 benefit showcases for various organizations including American Liver Foundation, Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation, Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls and more. She has also served on music panels presented by the organizers of 2NMC, DIY Convention, and Rockrgrl.
“Our organization was developed to promote women in music,” enthuses Sklar. “Chicks rock and GoGirlsMusic.com is a site dedicated to proving it.”
2004 looks like it will be another exciting year for GoGirlsMusic.com. Every month listeners can look forward to a GoGirlsRock! event at the Rhythm Room in Houston, TX, the first of which begins January 17 and will feature Laurie Foxx, Dani Linnetz, Myrna Sanders, and Carolina.
Preparations are underway for the 4th Annual “Invasion of the GoGirls” in Austin, Texas during the same time as the highly popular South by Southwest music conference weekend. In addition to showcasing the best in emerging talent from across the country, this year’s GoGirls event will also feature a music panel and a keynote speaker for the first time.
