Ulead Licenses DivX Video Compression Technology To Complement Video Editing Product Line In OEM Channel

San Diego and Torrance, CA—September 16, 2003—DivXNetworks, Inc., the company that created the revolutionary, patent-pending DivX video compression technology, and Ulead Systems, Inc., a leading developer of image editing, video editing, 3D animation and DVD authoring software, today announced a comprehensive software licensing and product integration partnership. Under the terms of the agreement, Ulead has licensed DivX video compression technology to distribute to its OEM partners along with the company's award-winning Ulead VideoStudio and Ulead MediaStudio Pro video editing software.

Ulead will promote DivX video technology to its OEM partners as a complement to VideoStudio and MediaStudio Pro. Ulead will distribute DivX Licensed software products through its wide-reaching channel to millions of consumers across the world. The first deal to distribute DivX licensed Ulead products is with NEC Computers of Japan.

"The combination of DivX's industry-leading MPEG-4 technology and our popular consumer and professional video editing software will offer video hobbyists and professional videographers a complete solution for creating high-quality home movies and professional video productions on their PCs," said Bill Hsiun, vice president of International Sales for Ulead Systems. "With its strong global brand and superior performance, DivX offers a compelling value-add for our partners worldwide."

The superior compression and video quality of DivX will enable users of Ulead software to easily create, edit and playback DVD-quality videos at sizes 7-10 times smaller than MPEG-2 files. DivX ranks among the world's most popular video technologies, with over 100 million downloads, averaging over 3 million downloads per month.
