Disc Makers' ElitePro2 CD/DVD Duplicator Provides Luna Sound Studios With Additional Revenue Streams
N. CALDWELL, NEW JERSEY—In today's uncertain economic climate, many smaller recording studios are continuing to thrive by finding innovative uses for their existing equipment. These new possibilities create previously uncharted revenue streams and help smaller studios differentiate their services from the competition. Luna Sound Studios in New Jersey, a leading producer of Christian and Rock recordings since 1979, has harnessed the short-run efficiency and high-quality on-disc printing of its Disc Makers ElitePro2 CD/DVD Duplication system to provide a unique service for its customers – the opportunity to personalize a professionally-produced song, complete with customized packaging and on-disc printing. Since its inception earlier this year, Luna Sounds' personalized songs program has enjoyed increasing success as word of mouth continues to spread. Customers simply select a song tailored to a special individual or occasion, send the studio a photo for the CD and its cover, and provide the guidelines for the customization of the track. Richie Rosato, former lead singer of the Duprees, then records the song to the customer's specifications. Lorenzo Crescibene, owner of Luna Sound and creator of the personalized song program, credits his Disc Makers ElitePro2 CD/DVD duplicator with helping to bring his brainchild to the marketplace. "The Elite has given me the efficiency and flexibility to profitably produce short-run projects like this," says Crescibene. "It's fast and easy to use, which is essential when you're dealing with individual discs or very short runs. I also use the onboard Autograph Pro printer to personalize the artwork on the disc, and the result is very clean and sharp." The addition of the ElitePro2 has also helped Luna Sound improve the services available to the artists who record there. "I wish I would've had the Elite system years ago," Crescibene says. "I've always gotten calls for duplication and I've either had to sub-contract that out to different people or do it myself, disc by disc. It would tie up my time and resources for hours, and it simply wasn't worth it. Now, I just set the system up and walk away. Between the time savings and the elimination of duplication expenses, the machine will definitely pay for itself." The ElitePro2 is the only duplication system available with a built-in Intel based PC, including a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The system includes Padus DiscJuggler software, which provides a user-friendly interface to simplify data, audio, video, and DVD duplication. Available with two 48x CD-R drives or two 4x DVD-R drives, ElitePro2 duplicates and prints at least 30 CD-Rs, or 8 DVD-Rs per hour. The input bin holds up to 125 discs for larger-capacity duplication projects, and the system includes an industry-leading three-year warranty on robotics, one year on drives, and free lifetime technical support.
