Bob Dylan Tour Rolls On

Bookmark and Share

Columbia recording artist Bob Dylan has embarked on his latest series of American concert dates and is garnering rave reviews. Highlights of his fall tour include a three-night run at the newly-renovated historic art deco Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles and a triumphant return for two nights to Madison Square Garden.

Dylan's recent shows have included rarely-heard and newly-introduced cover songs as well as material drawn from all phases of his extraordinary career including his most recent studio album, the Grammy-winning "Love And Theft". Dylan and his four-piece band -- Larry Campbell (pedal steel & other instruments), Tony Garnier (bass), Charlie Sexton (guitar), George Receli (drum) -- have been appearing without an opening act on his recent tours. Recent setlists and reviews may be found at: http://www.bobdylan.com/live/index.html

In late November, Columbia/Legacy will be releasing the two-CD "Bootleg Series, Vol. 5 -- Bob Dylan Live 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue." For years, inferior sounding audio bootlegs have circulated among collectors of these legendary shows. A bonus limited edition DVD packaged with the set will include two songs from Bob Dylan's film "Renaldo and Clara" and will make these songs available for the first time on any home video format.

Early last Spring, Bob Dylan signed on for a starring role in a film called "Masked and Anonymous" -- his first major acting gig in fifteen years. Dylan plays Jack Fate, a blues musician whose manager helps him break out of prison to perform one last show. The film is being directed by producer-director Larry Charles, known for his television work on Seinfeld, Mad About You and Curb Your Enthusiasm. In other movie-related Dylan news, Dylan contributed "Waitin' For You" to the "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" soundtrack. The soundtrack album was produced by Dylan's Rolling Thunder Tour bandmate, T Bone Burnett, producer of the Grammy-winning "Album Of The Year" "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

Dylan's current album, "Love And Theft," marks another milestone in the career of one of the world's most remarkable recording artists, and comes in the midst of one of Dylan's most creative and prolific periods. Since the 1997 release of the platinum-selling Time Out Of Mind -- one of the artist's biggest-selling and most critically acclaimed albums, it earned him three Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year -- Bob Dylan also wrote and recorded "Things Have Changed," featured in the film "Wonder Boys," for which he received both the Academy Award and Golden Globe in 2001. "Love And Theft" was released in September 2001 and certified gold by the RIAA.
