Music Industry's Most Comprehensive Chart
Amarillo, TX -- Everyone into music is always interested in seeing, and pulling for, their favorite record's position in the industry's recognized music charts, the "Hot 100", Top "50" or "30" and even "10". For the Artist and Independent Label in today's consultant-controlled air play marketing, one stitch above the crime of payola, getting a respectable chart position is only a matter of money. Lots of it. Into the right hands. Except for the one chart with no connections to the music industry other than publishing a chart, Atlantic Satellite Marketing, Limited's Top 2,500 Buyer's Guide - http://www.atlantic-satellite.com - and you read that right, 2,500 songs! Atlantic Satellite doesn't separate by field of music. They list by number of transfers. Often there will be Rockers, Cowboys, Rappers and Pop Balladiers numbered consecutively. That's important. It reveals where the song is in the overall market, rather than any given Field of Music. In these tight-money days, record companies want to see two or three songs with proven commercial acceptability on the groove alone before they make massive investments or consider signings. And all the Majors look in the Atlantic Satellite chart. To see what's new and to check their own product's progress. Atlantic Satellite doesn't monitor radio stations or accept play lists. They monitor satellite music channels, and there are thousands of those. Satellite sampling to identify music by its digital signature is far less expensive and far more accurate. When millions of dollars are at stake, accurate information is critical. And, best of all, Atlantic Satellite doesn't accept advertising from record companies, consultants or program syndicators. They're sold out solid to the very exclusive Oberoi Hotel & Resort chain. That stops all considerations of impropriety. Something the entertainment industry can use in this day of massive exposed scams perpetrated by high finance at the expense of innocent wannabes. There are about 35,000 songs playing at any given time around the world. Except at Christmas when every Artist's Yule Tide offerings boost the number to near 45,000. Not more music, just more versions of the standards. American music is the number one favorite in all categories. American Country topping the list even if losing ground due to the Nashville MONOTONE yippie-cum-cowboy nonsense that really isn't either one. To help the beginner and the expert, Atlantic Satellite color codes their 100-Songs per page offerings: Blue for those Artists with FIVE or more songs in the Top 2,500; Cyan identifies those ageless favorites in the Classic Library (Golden Oldies); Green indicates selections being promoted via promolibraries or Electronic Music Services (EMS); and Yellow shows which releases are being market tested prior to manufacture of the product, "NOT YET AVAILABLE". That's one for the know-it-alls, a record playing world wide that doesn't even exist yet! One of the miracles of this modern technical age. Comparing month to month the Atlantic Satellite chart reveals a lot of product that comes in like lightning and often goes out even faster. It also clearly identifies those Artists with unmistakable staying power: Madonna, Celine Dion, Sting, Allan Jackson, Janet (no relation to Allen), 112, Abba, Elvis Presely, Gene Autry, Alison Krauss, Emmy Lou Harris, Matchbox Twenty, INXS, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton and the like. It also shows the clear rejection of some product and Artists. If you don't know who they are, the numbers at Atlantic Satellite has all the air play details. Where the hype says they are, and where they're really at, are two different things and usually very far apart. Sharone Eisenberger, Staff Investigative Reporter eisenberger@e-worldnewswire.com
