These 10 new Dfactor original songs (and one choice cover) range from straight-up punky powerpop to classic garage rock, some synth and piano tracks and more of Dfactor's curious musings about life, love, history, and nostalgia.
Longtime Dfactor fans will dig the riveting guitars and melodic vocals. As Dfactor Dave ages, his voice gets higher. Weird.
"Nostalgia for Now" kicks off with the new hit song "Summer's Here to Stay" - a catchy pop song with all the right tics for a summer hit! It received an exclusive airing on KWSS 93.9 in Phoenix this week!
The LP also includes the two previously released singles:
- "We May Never Go Home" a throbbing, hooky, synth-driven song about love, romance, driving and adventure, and
- "The Man Who Thinks He Can" a singalong cut that grafts a century-old poem onto a modern rock 'n roll template.
Other outstanding rockers include:
- "Just Like You", a Kinks-ian cop that taps into today's startup/get-rich sensibility;
- "Run Away from You" is a desperate romance tale that turns #MeToo upside down;
- the title track "Nostalgia for Now" which combines punky-pop fervor with a singalong chorus; and
- "Sabotage" a garage-rockin' glance at the polarity and division affecting all of us.
Dfactor's cover take on The Animals' "It's My Life" is as faithful as you can get. As Dfactor Dave says, "You don't fuck around with a perfect song; just try to nail the spirit."
Dfactor Dave plays all instruments (including piano, synth, bass, guitars, and drums), and sings all lead and backing vocals on these tracks. His daughter added some high notes on the title track.
DFACTOR POP BIO
Dfactor Pop (aka Dave Murrow) is a U.S. (PHX, AZ) singer-songwriter who writes, sings and records his cool, catchy pop-punk-rock songs. His music is a mixture of melodic power pop, gritty punk stylings, and amped-up '60s garage rock topped off with brash vocals, rockin' guitars and an enthusiastic DIY approach.
Dfactor's new "Nostalgia for Now" release marks a period of renewed solo musical activity, after a few years (2014-2017) of playing, recording and performing with his rock trio Action Jets in the Phoenix-Scottsdale-Tempe market.

Dfactor Dave has been a rock 'n roll fan for his entire life. At some point, he learned guitar and started creating songs as a natural evolution. In 1997, Dfactor started as the one-man Anthemic Pop Wonder (APW), with a self-released CD "Cool Cocktails". Following a move to New York in 1998, he then released the second solo Anthemic Pop Wonder CD Wild, Thrill Hungry Gurls Who Don't Want to Know Right from Wrong in 1999.
Anthemic Pop Wonder then became a live band, as Dave enlisted his NYC GBV pals to rock alongside him. Between 1999-2004, Anthemic Pop Wonder (APW) played live in NYC, Boston, Washington DC and elsewhere, and released the well-reviewed 2001 "Party Tarts" EP, Rapid Pop Thrills (2002) and 2004's terrific follow-up Supersonic Lullabies.
In 2008, Dfactor produced Say Yeah, a collection of rock 'n roll songs that remains high on fans lists. After moving to the Phoenix-Scottsdale-Tempe metro later that year, Dfactor soaked in his new surroundings and put out a killer solo effort Slashing the Sunlight in 2009.
Dfactor solo eventually became the Dfactor band, playing loads of live shows in greater Phoenix area from 2009-2012. Other releases followed:
2010 - Immigration Clampdown (from A Line in the Sand Phoenix New Times compilation)
2011 - Head in the Clouds (EP)
2012 - Big Blue Bridge (EP)
Between 2013-2017, Dfactor led the action rock trio Action Jets. Action Jets played loads of shows in the Phoenix metro area in those years and released two full-length LPs and an EP.
