Fraction and Finsta is using this piece to discuss potential. The imagery of winter is used to describe this battle in this YouTube video. Through overcoming the cold of winter by melting away the ice and revealing spring. This is integrated by showing snow slowly melting away from plants. There are additional images in the video that represents achievement, such as a school and his instruments. All of these aspects come together to create a full and flavorful piece which can be analyzed or merely enjoyed.

The YouTube video for this piece was produced during the winter. Snow is on the ground and because the winter scene the colors are predominantly grey and blue hues. The beginning opens with a misty, snowy forest. The scene also contains one of the artist’s names, Fraction; it hovers in the mist amongst the trees. The word is in all black bold letters. Fraction is dressed in all black winter appropriate clothes. He’s in a snowy forest area when he first begins to sing. The place replicates the title scene at the start of the video. Another great looking spot where he films his video is by a cell phone tower. The tower makes a great background focal point. Then the next featured segment of the video is of him driving through a snowy neighborhood. The cold gradually melts away at the end of the song. Just like he melts away expectations of others to show a better version of him, a version that is the best him because he no longer has negative influences upon him. At the end of the video there are images of nature with snow gradually melting away. The final scene is of greenery after the snow has melted and the warm weather sets in.

A lyrical line from the song that relates to the cold weather imagery is, “some reach for what they can’t clutch. The devil just smiles but that ain’t me.” It relates in the way he reaches beyond the melting ice that is holding him back. “Alpha, Omega, I understand the rules of my mind.” This line describes that he understands his potential and in this way he is able to overcome the cold that tries to keep him from moving forward.

At some points in the music video instruments are shown in order to display some of the behind the scenes of the music. Also another interesting plot created by images in the video is of a school. The video begins by showing the hallways of the building, then the stairwell and finishes by showing the whiteboard. These images are related to achievement and works with the song because the piece is about moving forward and becoming a better version of you. All these images are also visually pleasing and move the listener through the song. It makes the listeners think more about what the song is saying to them. In this way the video makes the song more effective which in turn makes it also a great music video.
