“Lisa Bouchelle’s moment is here”

Rising star Lisa Bouchelle is making a splash on Spotify, with over 500,000 plays for her debut EP ‘Lipstick Tomboy’. The indie Americana singer features John Popper of Blues Traveler on her EP’s hit single ‘Only the Tequila Talkin’’, and critics are weighing in with high praise in a series of interviews and reviews, below.

Last week, veteran writer Robert Oermann chose Lisa’s duet with Popper as his coveted Music Row Disc of the Day, praising, “She sings in a sunny, bright soprano and the tune is a bopping ditty about two boozers falling for each other. Duet partner Popper is best known as the frontman for Blues Traveler. He adds some much needed soul and grit to the proceedings. Highly listenable.” Other critics have described the EP as “full of country rock riffs and Americana influenced melodies. Her powerful vocals and genre-bending guitars are captivating…”

Bouchelle is a musician’s musician who regularly performs upwards of 200 shows per year. She has sung backup for Bruce Springsteen, dueted in concert with Jon Bon Jovi, and toured with and/or opened for Blues Traveler, Meat Loaf, Ingrid Michaelson, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Bryan Adams, Jason Mraz, The Wailers, Train, and many others. Her Nashville ties include recent live performances backed by Eric Halbig on guitar (Sugarland), Brian Pruitt on drums (Luke Bryan, Lee Brice), and Kevin Post on pedal steel (Blake Shelton).  Here’s a throwback video of Lisa dueting with Jon Bon Jovi on his smash, "Who Says You Can't Go Home?” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z69sGw2Dsg .

Bouchelle is now stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight with ‘Lipstick Tomboy’. A Summer tour will be announced soon. Listen to the full EP via this private soundcloud link:

Americana music artist Lisa Bouchelle recently released her new EP titled "Lipstick Tomboy" and it features the amazing country duet "Only The Tequila Talkin'." Blues Traveler's John Popper lends a hand with his undeniable vocals and fabulous harmonica work. Lisa and John work together perfectly on this new country radio staple. Lisa has shared the stage with some of rock's elite artists, singing backup for Bruce Springsteen and performing a duet with Jon Bon Jovi among others, which gives her a confidence, which shines through in her songs. The country/gospel feel of "Heart vs Mind" and the gentle, folk cover of "If You Could Read My Mind," showcases the warmness in her vocals, whether she is delivering an up-beat song or a quiet acoustic melody. More about the EP, here:
Bouchelle is joined by notable artists on her EP. On "Tequila," in addition to John Popper and drummer Brendan Hill from Blues Traveler, musicians are as follows: Bass is Hal B. Selzer (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Gary US Bonds, "Rock of Ages"), Roger Filgate (Wishbone Ash) played guitar, Lloyd Landesman (Foreigner, Squeeze, Carl Perkins, Clarence Clemons) played keys. The track was produced by Mike Rogers (Deee-Lite, Erasure, Sinead O'Connor, They Might Be Giants, Tracy Bonham, Sly & Robbie, Steel Pulse).

The other three tracks were produced by Jeff Trott, who is Sheryl Crow's producer, and co-writer of many of her biggest hits, including "A Change Will Do You Good," "Soak Up the Sun," "Everyday Is A Winding Road," "My Favorite Mistake," etc. His other songwriting and/or producing collaborations include Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, Rob Thomas, Cider Sky, Michelle Branch, Stevie Nicks, and Counting Crows. He played most of the instruments on the Lisa Bouchelle tracks (Lisa played acoustic guitar).

Bouchelle’s cover of the Gordon Lightfoot classic "If You Could Read My Mind" also features Jerry Steel (Emmy Lou Harris) on pedal steel.

More About Lisa Bouchelle:
Lisa Bouchelle is an artist on the move. Not only is her career on a strong upward spiral, but it seems she personally never stops moving, as she averages over 200 shows a year. She has toured and/or opened for artists such as Meat Loaf, Blues Traveler, Train, Ted Nugent, Bryan Adams, Don Felder of The Eagles, Ingrid Michaelson, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat, The Wailers, and many others.
Lisa’s independent releases have reached #1 on two indie charts, and #4 on the college charts.  And while she may still be an underground artist to many fans, she has the respect of her fellow musicians, as evidenced by the fact that her recordings have contributions from John Popper and Brendan Hill of Blues Traveler, Rob Hyman of The Hooters, the legendary David Bromberg, chart-topping World Music artist Erin Hill, guitarist Bobby Bandiera (Bon Jovi), violinist Lorenza Ponce (Sheryl Crow), and hit songwriters such as John Eddie (Kid Rock) and Glen Burtnik (Styx),
Lisa started singing at the age of four, because although her parents loved her deeply, the only time they would stop arguing was when little Lisa sang. So she sang every chance she got, feeling it was her job to keep harmony in the family. Now, after losing both her parents, she still sings every chance she gets, whether it be driving thousands of miles across the US on her own, which she’s done several times while doing solo tours, or playing in the train station for tips. In fact, she was interviewed on NPR Radio about her experiences “busking” in the Philadelphia train station.
Lisa also managed to find time to create and host the TV show “Rock Star Kitchen,” in which she schmoozes with platinum selling artists in her kitchen, talking about music and touring, while cooking up their favorite dishes. The show quickly became the top-rated original content show on The Comcast Network in the Philadelphia region, and is currently in talks for national and international syndication. Lisa also made an appearance on the hit TV show Gossip Girl, and had a starring role in an off-Broadway production. Read more about Bouchelle’s inspiring journey, here:
