Conference For Millennial Music Industry Execs Releases New Speakers, Schedule And Sponsors

Execs from Sony Music, Spotify, Sky Tickets, Communion Music Group and Warner have been confirmed to speak at FastForward - the conference taking place in Amsterdam Feb 4-5 aimed at those working in the music business aged under 35.

Topics on the schedule over the two days include the future of international marketing, making money, record labels, live music and more.

Keynotes

Sammy Andrews, Managing Director of Sabotage New Media and former Cooking Vinyl Head of Digital, will be kicking off the conference, talking about convergence and the future of the music industry.

On Friday morning, Will Page, Director of Economics at Spotify will be giving a keynote speech with Spotify's Marketing Executive, Benelux, Nienke Dettmeijer on 'Adventures in the Netherlands' discussing streaming success in Holland, and highlighting artist case studies.

Friday afternoon, Craig Fletcher, Founder and CEO of gaming firm Multiplay (that heads up Insomnia Gaming Festival), will deliver "Glastonbury for Gaming", talking about how the gaming industry is making money, focusing on the growing e-sports phenomenon and what lessons the music industry can take home.

Panels

On Thursday, Head of Digital at Communion Music Group, Claire Mas, will appear on a panel with Tim Ferrone, CEO of Wrapped Up Music, Comes With Fries' Vanessa Picken and Motive Unknown founder Darren Hemmings to talk about international marketing for artists in the digital age. How acts can build audiences across a variety of territories using different channels, when it's the right time to start spending on mass media and whether there's still a place for physical advertising will be some of the questions asked by moderator Liz Stokes (Record of the Day).

Later that day, Bear's Den and Dotan manager, Rowan Brand, Senior Director, Partnerships at Sony Music Entertainment, Ruth Clarke, singer/songwriter Roxanne de Bastion and Director of Synchronisation at Warner Music Group Tim Miles, will discuss the future of making money, focusing on how to make the most of recorded music.

The conference concludes with Catherine Lückhoff of music streaming service NicheStreem will talk about how to build a sustainable music industry fit for the modern era during a panel discussion on Friday. Moderated by Media Insight Consulting boss Chris Carey, Andrews, and Fletcher will also join.

FastFifteen

Alongside the traditional conference schedule, FastFifteen will see specialists in the music business giving concise, punchy presentations sessions on publishing, big data, marketing, sync and more.

* Motive Unknown's Darren Hemmings will talk about the value in owning your own advertising data and how it can be used to your advantage
* Using big data from streaming and social media in marketing will be explained by Sony Music's Senior Insight Manager Lucy Ball
* Rowan Brand will tell the story of how Bear's Den sold out the Roundhouse (3k cap.) without any national radio play
* Zoe Swindells from the booking team at The O2 Arena will give some advice on how to stand out to booking agents
* Warner Music's Tim Miles will talk about approaching companies, how to score a sync deal and other tricks of the trade

Alex Kennedy, Head of Music and Entertainment at Sky Tickets and founder of social treating app Givvit will talk about the reality of starting a business
In addition to the new panels and speakers, Berklee College of Music has joined as an educational partner. Other sponsors include Media Insight Consulting, Music Glue and Propercorn.
