Yamaha Promotes Chris Gero To Corporate Director Of Artist Affairs
ANAHEIM, CA-To further strengthen its "one company, one image" approach with its extensive artist roster, Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) has named Chris Gero to the newly-created position of Corporate Director of Artist Affairs, effective January 1, 2001. Previously, he had served as YCA Director of Artist Events and Artist Relations Manager of the Pro Audio & Combo (PAC) division. In his new role, Mr. Gero is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all corporate-level popular artist activities and events in the United States, reporting to Rick Young, General Manager of the company's PAC Division. While existing YCA artist managers will maintain responsibility for their respective programs, Gero will take direction from YCA General Managers of the company's Piano, PAC and Band & Orchestral divisions, with a goal to best represent Yamaha to artists as one seamless cooperative company that can offer the widest range of artist services available in the music products industry today. Gero has built a remarkable career in the area of artist relations, highlighted most recently by his production and direction of some the most memorable concerts in Yamaha history, including the artist-studded "Tribute to Michael McDonald" concert held in conjunction with NAMM last January. He continues to work closely with all Yamaha marketing groups, to cultivate strategic top-level artist relationships, endorsements and performance opportunities. Gero joined Yamaha in 1992 as Digital Musical Instrument (DMI) Product Specialist, focusing on artist relations for both DMI and Portable Keyboards. In 1995, he was promoted to Artist Relations Manager of the Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division, and in 1998 was named Director of Artist Events, a position he held until now. Gero is a songwriter/producer/composer who has written, performed and recorded music for several television, film, radio and multimedia companies. He has produced music for various networks including A&E, ESPN, NBC and several others and has had success with industrial clients such as Walt Disney, Spectravision GTE and General Electric. In addition, Gero has written songs for RCA, Warner Bros. and Fiction Records. For more information, write Yamaha Corporation of America, P.O. Box 6600, Buena Park, CA 90622, telephone (714) 522-9011; or visit www.yamaha.com on the Web.
