Being knowledgeable about the industry is not a bad thing. You can look at it from all aspects. From the dj to the promoter, each job plays an important role in making sure that artist get their music played and are slotted to perform at any number of events. So when an artist is a lyricist, promoter, dj, and a producer, they can see the concept from different angles.
The Regime, formed in 2011, comprises of Stephen Thomas, known as Mr Black Kidd, and Michael Brooks, known as 2 Propa. Both members begin their interest in the music industry at a young age. While Thomas was at competing in rap battles and writing lyrics, Brooks was honing his promotion and djing skills. When they came together, the mixture of business acumen, love of music, and lyrical wordplay led them to form The Regime. While they reside in Belleville, Illinois, they have been making an impact in Saint Louis, Kentucky and , the Tennessee college scene. Their latest single, On My Knees is available on itunes. With a Mixtape coming out later this month produced by Dj Reezy and performances with various independent outlets, the Regime is well on its way to becoming one of the premier hip hop acts.
