With an ear for melody and the natural gift of a heart-wrenching voice, Grammy nominated and Native-American Music Award winning Pop/R&B artist, Jana Mashonee, has been at it for over a decade and attributes her success to her Native-American heritage, an amazing support system, hard work, and luck. Many would say that Jana started later in life than most artists. She started singing in High School as part of the choir. From there, Jana went on to sing in a local band and working at a Paramount theme park as a singer and dancer. In the year 2000, Jana was discovered by a renowned Motown Producer who helped her sign her first record deal with Curb Records; which has since released all 4 of her unique albums. In 2007, her album 'American Indian Story' was nominated for a prestigious Grammy award. She has also won eight Native-American Music Awards; including Female Artists of the Year and Record of the Year. Writing all her own lyrics and music, Jana usually starts the songwriting process with a melody, which then evokes a feeling that leads to the lyrics. Just recently, Jana had the amazing opportunity to share the stage with Sarah Mclachlan at Carnegie Hall for the Kate Winslet Foundation for Autism. Jana has performed in front of many sold-out audiences throughout her career in the US and abroad.
