The Music Producers Guild’s Q-Time event proved its popularity with its second outing at The Hospital Club in London's Covent Garden.

Nearly 100 people filled the room on the first floor of Dave Stewart's members' club to listen to and contributed to the debate on pressing issues affecting music producers, artists, recording engineers, mixers and all those involved in the production of recorded music.

The panel comprised producer-of-the-moment Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith, One Direction); independent thinker and New Music Strategist, Andrew Dubber; producer, songwriter, DJ and multi-instrumentalist, Tommy D; producer manager Ros Earls (140 dB Management, representing Alan Moulder, Flood, Gil Norton, Steve Osborne) and Nude Records creator, Saul Galpern (Suede, Ultrasound, Black Box Recorder). BBC 6 Music presenter and singer/song-writer, Tom Robinson guided, supported and moderated the event with professional skill and good judgement.

Topics ranged from the government failure to recognise the music industry as "creative", the audio quality of digital music files, the continuing closures of major UK recording studios and the effects of reduced revenue of recorded music sales on the incomes of producers and non-performing songwriters.

The debate was informed, entertaining and vital and the chairman's direction ensured an active participation from the attentive audience.

The event was recorded and will be made available in full to MPG members via the website: www.mpg.org.uk.

The next Q-Time event is confirmed for April 8th, again at The Hospital Club, and the panel will include Guardian journalist and singer-songwriter Helienne Lindvall; CEO of UK Music, Jo Dipple; the Liberal-Democrat spokesman for Culture, Media and Sport, Lord Timothy Clement-Jones, and senior economics director of Spotify, Will Page.

Tickets will be available from the MPG website.
