Atlanta Rock Quartet Hot Wives Sign With Redglare Records For New EP

Redglare Records has signed Atlanta, Georgia-based Hot Wives, a rock/garage punk quartet whose sound has been described as the soundtrack to a speeding ticket. The band will be releasing their latest EP, "This Man Refused to Open His Eyes," on Redglare Records in January 2013.

The Hot Wives includes Jimmy Guthrie (guitar, vocals), Gib Fenning (guitar, bass, vocals), Jeff Warncke (drums) and Scott Lambert (bass, guitar). All four have extensive backgrounds in music, ranging from local punk bands to touring internationally, including Skin Pops, Violets, Fabulous Lounge Punks, and Hollyfaith.

With a sound that draws inspiration from bands like Scratch Acid, The Stooges, the Bad Seeds and the Minutemen, the forthcoming Hot Wives EP will feature six hard-hitting, fast-paced songs that dole out angst, frustration and revenge.

"I first heard the Hot Wives at a festival and knew I wanted to put out their next album," says Redglare Records owner Everett Dolgner. "They have an energy and frantic pace that reminds me of The Stooges, they write great songs and are solid live."

As for signing with Redglare Records, drummer Jeff Warncke says, "How can you not be elated to work with people so obviously engaged in a labor of love? No pressure, no bullshit. Just hard, honest work in the service of music they believe in."

Bass player Scott Lambert adds, "(Everett) came to see us play and said, I want to put out your record' because he liked our band. You can't ask for much more than that. I like that Redglare doesn't release just one type or genre of music. I like that way of thinking. Redglare just seems to want to release good records by bands they feel deserve to be heard."

"This Man Refused to Open His Eyes" will debut in January 2013, and will be available in both digital and CD formats. Keep an eye on redglarerecords.com for more details. Additional information and photos for the Hot Wives can be found at redglarerecords.com/artists/hot-wives.
