Universal Music Publishing Group Appoints Zeina Hamzeh Grenier Senior Director, Business And Legal Affairs
In this new role, Ms. Grenier's responsibilities will include contract negotiations in North America for new and existing songwriter signings, with a primary focus on digital and new media related agreements. "Zeina is a skilled music publishing attorney who is particularly well versed in negotiating new media deals. Having someone on our team as savvy as Zeina to help navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape is critical to UMPG's growth and continued success," said David Kokakis. "I am thrilled and delighted to join UMPG's exceptional team. I am grateful to David and Evan for the opportunity and look forward to supporting their vision both in deal negotiation with songwriters and digital service providers," said Zeina Hamzeh Grenier. Prior to joining Universal Music Publishing group, Ms. Grenier worked in Legal and Business affairs at Warner/Chappell Music, Inc. for six years serving in various capacities, most recently as Senior Director. She was responsible for drafting and negotiating various music publishing agreements, including those related to blanket digital licenses with digital music services, co-publishing, joint venture, and amendments for both contemporary and legacy writers, as well as reviewing domestic and international copyright law issues and music library acquisitions. Ms. Grenier has also been a faculty member at her alma mater Southwestern Law School for almost two years, where she teaches both Entertainment Law as well as an online LLM course on music publishing. Ms. Grenier is also active in various legal entertainment organizations; most recently as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Music and Personal Appearances for the American Bar Association Forum on Entertainment and Sports Law and as a Board Member of Southwestern Law School's Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law Alumni Association. She has also volunteered her time to serve as a panelist at events sponsored by the American Bar Association, Southwestern Law School, and the Grammy Foundation's Entertainment Law Initiative.
