Dream Wolf Takes Prog Pop To Outer Space On Debut
Kansas City, MO November 12, 2012— Anticipated release set for December 4th. Emerging from a thriving music scene, Dream Wolf will unleash their first full length album in December, after three years of perfecting a sound that is uniquely theirs to claim among the scores of bands playing today. The quintet’s tenacious pursuit of hook-centered theatrical rock is featured throughout the nine songs that make up the album, due out December 4th. When asked about the Dream Wolf songwriting process, lead vocalist Megan Zander explained, “We’ve written the songs in a way that the movements, which could be five minutes in and of themselves, are smashed together with other movements into a four minute pop song.” The combination of seemingly complicated progressions coupled with pop melodies has garnered the band a loyal following and regional radio play. In addition to live performances in venues across the Midwest, the band has set its sights on producing a “space odyssey” musical, which will center around the lyrical characters of Crook and Baby, who make appearances on the debut. The group released the singles “Astro Wolf” (August) and “Queen of Hell” (October) this year via select radio stations as a sneak peek of the self-titled release, which will be made available on their website www.dreamwolfmusic.com in December. Their previously released EP, Learn to Survive, in early 2012, featured three songs that introduced the world to the grandiose scale of their songwriting capabilities. A review of the EP by Deli Magazine in July 2012 stated, “This band will be one to watch as they reinvent their own versions of operatic rock and take it in new directions.” The quintet’s journey to perfect their sound started in 2010 with founding members Megan Zander and Chris Tady (guitar) writing “sad folk songs,” and has evolved in both scope and skill with the addition of the talented Katelyn Boone (keyboards), Tess Jehle (drums), and Brent Jamison (bass). Jamison doubled his duties during the making the album by taking on engineering duties and recording the band. “The recording process, if anything, served more to solidify a line up that’s been several years and a few iterations in the making,” said Jamison. Boasting a complete line up of great musicians and a power-packed set of songs, Dream Wolf plans on touring and producing the musical while promoting their album. Dream Wolf will host a kick-off party for the album on Saturday, December 1st at The Brick, 1727 McGee, in Kansas City. The band will include a cd, signed liner notes, and a performance with paid admission of $10. Dream Wolf will be available for interviews starting November 26th for the release.
