World's First Listening Music Service - WiMP Can Now Recognize The Music Playing In The Room
Music streaming usage is increasing rapidly and is becoming a popular way of listening to music. Now, music service WiMP, as the first streaming service in the world, can not only play music, but also listen to and recognize music! Have you ever wondered what song is playing at the store, at a party or on the radio? Now you can find out in just a few seconds with the new Audio Search functionality in WiMP.
Music Service WiMP announces an update for the iPhone and iPad, where the biggest news is the audio search. This means that when you hear a song on the radio or elsewhere and wonder who is playing, you can press a button in WiMP and get the answer, ready for immediate play. You can also save the songs into playlists and for example collect songs you like from a holiday abroad or a night on the town.
"The most important task for everyone working in WiMP is to inspire more music playing. We believe that this feature will help do just that, when people can easily retrieve music they hear and play it in WiMP. It simply makes it easier to discover even more new artists and songs and it has never been easier to create the soundtrack to your life", says Thor Martin Jensen, global head of editorial in WiMP.
WiMP's audio search is developed through a partnership with provider Gracenote, making it possible to recognize sound and search for matches in the large music catalog. Gracenote has the largest database in the world, with access to almost any music and identify artist name, album name and track name and send it to WiMP. WiMP then makes a search in its catalog and shows the most popular hit. The search will also be "trained" to become better as more and more people use it.
