CANADIAN MUSICIAN KAT LUCAS REUNITED WITH PINK FOR CD PROMO & 2013 WORLD TOUR
For Immediate Release: November 8, 2012 (Toronto, ON/Los Angeles, CA); Toronto musician Kat Lucas has reunited with Grammy award winning hitmaker Pink as they promote her latest album The Truth About Love. Fall 2012 has been full of activity with numerous TV appearances including VH1 Storytellers airing November 13th. In preparation for the 2013 world tour, Pink and the gang have also played popular festivals in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Australia. "I'm thrilled to be back out with the Pink family," says Lucas, "it had been quite awhile since we saw each other, but it was if no time had passed - the second we started to play together we fell right back into the groove." Lucas began playing guitar, keyboards, and singing backup vocals with Pink in 2009 on her worldwide Funhouse tour. Nicknamed the “triple threat”, Lucas was part of approximately 160 live shows, breaking records worldwide. She performed on the Funhouse Live in Australia DVD and joined Pink on her Funhouse Carnival tour, taking on stadiums in Europe and the U.K. "I love that I get to play guitar, keyboards, and sing with Pink. It keeps me on my toes, and keeps my chops up on all three instruments," explains Lucas. "Every night singing with Pink, Jenny and Stacy (backup singers) on tour challenged me and taught me so much about my voice and the different things I can do with it. Control, technique, attitude, vibe...just a few things that I've learned and have worked into my vocal library." While Pink took some time off touring when her daughter Willow was born, Lucas was able to spend some time working on her own music in Toronto. She started Belle Ayre, a five piece blues/rock/soul band with influences from Motown, Amy Winehouse, Jack White and the Black Keys. As the front woman and keyboard player, Lucas is joined by Will Marr (illScarlett), Matt Boudreau, Fred Merritt-Gambrill, and Morgan Doctor (the Cliks, Andy Kim). "I'm very excited about this project and feel it is the best thing I have ever done musically," she says. "Everyone in the band plays such an important role and contributes creatively – it has just been so organic and everything has fallen into place as if by magic. It’s definitely meant to be." While in Toronto, Lucas also worked with a few different artists playing keys, guitar, and vocals, including Lights and Ashley MacIssac. One of the songs she co-wrote for Japanese megastar Koda Kumi ended up on her album Japonesque, which has sold over 150,000 units. "I feel very grateful to be out working with such an inspirational and talented artist such as Pink again, it's an opportunity that continues to push me artistically and love what I do more and more. I love the new record and getting to learn these killer songs and play them live is so much fun.
