Since 2010’s ‘Eye Wonder’ on PAUSE:MUSIC, AM444 have played various venues around China, travelled to Africa, had radio play all over the globe, from around Asia to London and the US, and released a 12” record with SF’s Tussle! Its been a busy year so far, and all leading up to this – their second full release – ‘Rooms’.
Producer Jay.Soul and vocalist ChaCha (AM444) are giving little away about the album, but if you caught their live shows at JZ Club, Fete De La Musique or The Shelter earlier in the year you will have heard a few previews of what to expect on ‘Rooms’. Dubbed out, funked up and heavy on the low end, AM444’s sound is growing and maturing into something which is very difficult to categorize, yet familiar and accessible to all. Included as well are the 2 songs released on vinyl 12" in July of this year, the energetic and jazzy breakbeat track "Lies" and atmospheric slow futuristic dream soul of "静谧的湖泊 (Jing Mi De Hu Po)".
With Jay.Soul currently living back in Amsterdam, the versatile duo wont be playing many shows in China in the near future so this may be your last chance for a while to catch their new album in all its live glory.
