(Nashville, Tenn. – Oct. 18, 2011) BigRide Entertainment recording artist Marlee Scott is performing Sunday, Oct. 23, at Centennial Park as part of Nashville’s United Nations Day celebration, benefitting the global Girl Up campaign.

Presented by the Nashville Cordell Hull Chapter of UNA-USA, United Nations Day runs from 2-4 p.m. at the Parthenon inside Centennial Park on West End Ave. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. United Nations Day activities include a presentation by the UN Foundation’s Melissa Hillebrenner, deputy director of Girl Up, and performances from Scott, the HAYAIA West African Dance Troupe and the Actors Bridge Ensemble: Act Like a GRRRL. Scott will perform her current Country radio single, “Beautiful Maybe.”

“Having the freedom to make my own decisions and choices regarding my life and career has always been important to me,” says Scott. “I would stand behind anything that gives young girls the opportunities that I have been blessed with throughout my life as a young girl and woman.”

The Girl Up campaign was established to address the needs of adolescent girls in developing countries. It mobilizes American girls to raise awareness and funds for programs of the United Nations that help some of the world’s hardest-to-reach adolescent girls.

Scott’s current single, “Beautiful Maybe,” continues to climb up the Billboard Country Indicator chart. The music video is receiving airplay on CMT Pure, CMT.com, The Country Network, Yahoo.com, Yallwire.com and more. The Canadian-born singer lives in Nashville and is finishing her U.S. debut album for BigRide Entertainment, with plans for a spring 2012 release. For more information, visit www.MarleeScott.com.

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean is slated to make a special appearance at United Nations Day. Reservations for the event are required and can be made at unausa-event@usa.net or by calling (615) 870-8446. For more information, visit www.una-nashville.org.
