Dave Eggar's New Release, Kingston Morning (Domo Music Group) Juxtaposes The Unique Worlds of Reggae and Appalachian Music as Eggar's new band, Deoro, Hits the Road for US and International Performances

New York, NY (August 10, 2010) - Time Magazine calls Dave Eggar, "An exceptionally accomplished all-around musician... Dave Eggar's life in music seems an unending crescendo".

The New York Times chimes in: "Eggar's work is breathtaking ... a deliverance from the sedate formality of the typical cello recital." Amazingly, Dave body of work is consistently greeted with superlatives and rave reviews. It's a luxury not often enjoyed by an artist who records in diverse genres and performs live in multiple musical categories, seamlessly moving between each, be it Pop, Rock, Jazz, R&B, New Age, World or Classical music. His ability to effortlessly blur the lines between any musical style is truly unique. That's the magic of Dave Eggar.

Dave's latest CD project, Kingston Morning was recently recorded in Brooklyn, NY; Kingston, Jamaica and Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Released by Domo Music Group (www.domo.com), favorite Eggar tracks on the release include Earth's Paradise (vocals by Jamaican roots reggae legend Luciano); Follow Me to the Sun (vocals by Chuck Palmer); High Atmosphere (vocals by NPR's Robin & Linda Williams -- Prairie Home Companion); Itsbynne Reel and Jacob's Vision (vocals by Bluegrass legend Dr. Ralph Stanley -- O Brother Where Art Thou).

And in related news, Dave's new band, Deoro will hit the road for concert dates abroad and in the US in support of the album.

John Diliberto of Echoes noted, "Dave Eggar is the epitome of the modern cellist. Whether plugged in or acoustic, he can go from Marley to Messiaen and make it all part of his own, highly evocative musical world." The cellist who has performed with Coldplay as well as Blow Up Hollywood, plays an electric chamber music that travels from Messiaen to Marley.

Regarding the new CD, Dave notes, "The new project represents to me a new and extreme brand of high-risk, high-impact classical crossover. Kingston Morning juxtaposes Reggae music and Appalachian music in a look at local culture fighting for a voice in an increasingly global environment."

Eggar says this project was an especially moving and emotional recording for to make. He adds, "This is a project of ingenuity and improvisation which took many hours of dedicated perseverance to complete. With open minds and open hearts, our lives were forever changed as these unique Reggae and Appalachian collaborations took shape. As we immersed ourselves in these seemingly disparate cultures, amazing similarities in the history and storied cultures emerged. Their individual hopes, dreams and the power of the music eventually seemed to bring the music and people of Jamaica and Virginia ever closer together."

Dave continues, "My imagination has always been captivated by the music and culture of Jamaica and Appalachia. These journeys to Kingston and Big Stone Gap were truly a life altering experience for me. I am especially proud of the music that has been produced as a result of our efforts."

A musical prodigy as a child, Dave Eggar began playing the cello and piano at age three. By the age of seven, Dave had performed on Broadway and with the Metropolitan Opera. He debuted at Carnegie Hall at the age of 15. Dave is a graduate of Harvard University and the Julliard School's Doctoral Program.

Mr. Eggar has appeared worldwide as a solo cellist and pianist. A virtuoso of many musical styles, Dave has performed and recorded with artists in numerous genres including Evanescence, The Who, Michael Brecker, Josh Groban, Coldplay, Beyonce, Pearl Jam, Fall Out Boy, Dave Sanborn, Kathleen Battle, Ray Lamontagne, Roberta Flack, The Spin Doctors, Dianne Reeves, Brandy, Carly Simon, Phil Ramone, Hannah Montana, Duncan Sheik, Sinead O'Connor, Bon Jovi, Manhattan Transfer, Corinne Bailey Ray and many more.

His list of awards and accomplishments includes accolades from Time Magazine, ASCAP, the National Endowment for the Arts, Sony Records Elevated Standards Award in classical music, the Geraldine Dodge & Leonard Bernstein Foundations, and at 15 was the youngest winner in the history of the Artists International Competition.

Dave's mission to "not just cross over, but to cross through" multiple genres of music is apparent in all of his releases. Whether it's classical, reggae, bluegrass, jazz, pop, or world music, Eggar finds a common voice within his musical vocabulary and introduces it with his own unique imaginative vision.

About Deoro: Featuring the talents of Chuck Palmer and Manuel Quintero, The Dave Eggar band has appeared at Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall, Walter Reade Theatre, Harmony Atrium, Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, St Louis Center for the Contemporary Arts, Walker Center for the Arts Peter Britt Festival, Shinjuku Park Tower Hall Tokyo and Herbst Theater.

Chuck Palmer:
Drummer, percussionist, programmer, producer, and song writer Chuck Palmer began playing the drums at age 12. His early playing took shape in local indie rock bands (Earwig) and high school jazz fusion projects, as he quickly developed a reputation among the diverse and talented music scene in Columbus, Ohio.

In 1997 Chuck received a BM in Jazz Studies from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where he studied under Bob Breithaupt (past president and a member of the Board of Directors of the Percussive Arts Society).

He performed over 1,000 concerts over a 4-year period (1996 - 2000) with the Columbus, Ohio based group Arnett Howard's Creole Funk Band.

Chuck moved to NYC in 2000 where he has performed, produced and recorded with artists including: David Eggar (Evanescence, Michael Brecker, The Who, Sheryl Crow); Dr. Ralph Stanley (bluegrass legend, O' Brother Where Art Thou); Luicano (reggae superstar); Lucia Micarelli (Josh Groban, Jethro Tull); Sly Dunbar (Black Uhuru, Sly and Robbie); Gil Goldstein (Miles Davis, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, David Sanborn); Robin and Linda Williams (NPR Prairie Home Companion); Jay Newland (Norah Jones); Everett Bradley (Bon Jovi, Hall and Oats); Itaal Shur (Maxwell, Santana); Tony Scherr (Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Norah Jones); Heather Holley (Christina Aguilera); Amy Lee (Evanescence); Holly Brook (Fort Minor); RJD2; The Villa-Lobos Brothers (Dan Zanes); Sasha Lazard; Rachael Sage; Katie Costello; and Lucy Woodward.

Chuck recently finished Kingston Morning, the latest project from Dave Eggar. Included in his credits on this album: co-producer (along with Dave Eggar and Jay Newland), drummer/percussionist, programmer, song writer, vocalist (Follow Me To The Sun), engineer, and mixer.

Manuel Quintero:
Manuel Quintero began his musical training at Capital University, where his participation with jazz ensembles included performances with guest artists Ney Rosauro, Bobby Sanabria, and Maria Schneider. After private studies with Columbus Symphony Orchestra's principal bassist, Mark Morton, he won positions with Central Ohio Symphony, Welsh Hills Symphony, and substituted with Opera Columbus.

In 2008, Manuel completed graduate studies at UCLA, where he studied double bass with Los Angeles Philharmonic principal bassist, Christopher Hanulik, orchestral studies with Neal Stulberg, and chamber music with Antonio Lysy. His role as principal bass of UCLA Philharmonic led to performance opportunities with American Youth Symphony, and guest artists Shardad Rohani, David Benoit, and Alan Silvestri.

Manuel is currently principal bass of the Golden State Pops Orchestra, whose guest artists have included many of LA's important film and TV composers, including Chris Young, John Ottman, and Michael Giacchino. He currently substitutes with several Los Angeles area orchestras and jazz groups, and performs regularly with singers and songwriters in the pop music scene.c.com
