USA Songwriting Competition Showcase At SXSW

Winners of the 14th annual USA Songwriting Competition will perform at SXSW at Borders (4477 S. Lamar, Austin) on March 19, 7pm. Performers include:
Anne Simoni (1st Prize winner, World, 14th USA Songwriting Competition
Wendy Colonna (1st Prize winner, AAA/Alternative, 5th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards), Dexter Freebish (Capitol Records)
Throwing Seven
Shane Cooley.

Entries for the 15th Annual USA Songwriting Competition are currently being accepted. Winning songs of the Competition will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated radio program “Acoustic Café” as well as Sirius XM Satellite Radio. This is the first Songwriting Competition that gives airplay to the winning songs, giving deserving bands, songwriters the recognition and exposure they deserve.

Entrants stand to win a grand prize of over US$50,000 in cash, merchandise and exposure, making this the largest prize package for any annual songwriting competition. Many USA Songwriting Competition winners in the past have received recording and publishing contracts, as well as having their songs placed on film and television. Judges include A&R directors from Warner, EMI, Universal Music and SONY Music.

The USA Songwriting Competition is sponsored by major music companies such as Sony, Guitar Player Magazine, Ibanez Guitars, D'Addario Strings, Audio-Technica, Mackie, PreSonus, IK Multimedia, and many more.

Songs may be entered in 15 different categories including Pop, Rock, R&B, World and Country. The competition is aimed at promoting excellence in the art of songwriting among writers, composers, bands, singer/songwriters and solo artists in an international forum. Entries are accepted from now through May 28, 2010.
