Grady's "Cowboy Metal" Hits Canadian Cities Spring 2010
Canadian’s Gordie “Grady” Johnson and “Big” Ben Richardson may have moved to Austin, Texas, but they always come back to satisfy Canadian fans. Together with drummer Nina “the Queena” Singh, the band deliver a unique musical explosion of “Cowboy Metal” as GRADY. After the ECMA’s and SxSw, GRADY kick off April 2010’s Canadian tour with Johnson singing the national anthems at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre for the Maple Leafs/Boston Bruins hockey game April 3rd. With GRADY, solo shows and producing acts like Gov't Mule, Nashville Pussy, Taj Mahal, Joel Plaskett and The Trews, Gordie Johnson is one busy man. And he wouldn’t have it any other way. GRADY’s latest album Good As Dead has been enthusiastically received, one review raves “A Thundering Metalbilly freight train flying down the tracks with a sound that will convince you Motorhead has joined ZZ Top. This CD leaves little doubt about the size of these boys’ cajones.”(ATown). The new single off Good As Dead “If I Was King” has landed at radio all across Canada. Johnson produced Good As Dead which perfectly captures the wall of sound that has made Grady a favourite among smoky, beer stained bars across Canada and Austin's Red River underground scene yet it is their most texturally intriguing record to date. A sound that could only come out of Austin, Texas by way of Canada.
