FameCast And OCESA Team To Create New Online Music Experience

Bookmark and Share

Latin America's premier entertainment promoter, OCESA, has teamed with FameCast, creators of the leading artist discovery and branded entertainment platform to create Amplifica, an online venue to identify rising Latino music stars.

Amplifica's (www.amplifica.tv) inaugural program is Tu Pase al Vive, a competition where bands compete online for the chance to play alongside the likes of Fabulosos Cadillacs and Andres Calamaro at Vive Latino, a major music festival in Mexico City June 27-28.

More than 1500 bands are expected to compete, with tens of thousands fans weighing in to decide the top three finalists. Those finalists will perform live in front of a panel of judges to determine who will win the potentially career-making opportunity.  The winner and runners up will also receive an equipment package from Bari International and a chance to record at Estudio19.

The joint venture brings together one of the most influential players in the Latin music scene with an innovator in digital entertainment marketing to create a truly original online music community for Latin America.

Founded in 2006 as an online music talent competition allowing independent artists to gain national exposure, FameCast quickly became recognized as an innovator in identifying up and coming talent in a number of music styles and creating a highly interactive experience between musicians and music fans.

They evolved the contest format into a pioneering branded entertainment experience blending user generated content, social media and FameCast's Buzz Factor technology to deliver customized, engaging marketing campaigns for brands.

FameCast has created successful experiences for the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands 2009 Van Warped Tour, Guitar Centers' On-Stage competition with Mötley Crüe, John Mayer's Mayercraft, the Taste of Chaos Battle of the Bands, and Fender Guitars' Road Worn competition. Not limited to music, they also power the JOE's Next Model competition for JOE's JEANS (www.joesnextmodel.com) and an online tribute contest in conjunction with the DVD release of Notorious from Fox Home Entertainment (www.notorioustribute.com).

Branching into other geographical markets was a next logical step for FameCast. Latin America boasts a rich, vibrant music scene with up and coming talent in a number of styles, and a very large and enthusiastic fan base. "That's a natural combination for our platform," said FameCast CEO Kent Savage. "And OCESA's experience as Latin America's largest producer of music, sports and entertainment events makes for a perfect partnership."

OCESA felt the same way. The Mexico-based company has delivered live and televised events to millions of fans on two continents. Expanding their presence online is an important part of their future plans. And they were looking for a partner that could do more than just put their events online and could instead create meaningful experiences for fans, sponsors and other partners.

"As OCESA grows in the digital world we are looking for tools and partners that can help us evolve and learn more about our customers and their habits," said Pablo Slough, director of OCESA DIGITAL. "By creating a FameCast platform in Mexico we were able to do something that's never been done here before, to grow a community of bands and help some promising musicians achieve their dreams."
