Remote Post-Production Solution Enables Turnkey On-Location Video Editing And Compression for Live Pre-Telecast Webcast of Grammys Awards Presentation

FOR RELEASE ON: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2009

STUDIO CITY, CA -- Media Distributors, a leading provider of services, systems, and products for professional audio and video production today announced that its Remote Station™, a turnkey on-location post-production system, was used for the live pre-telecast webcast, at which most of the awards are handed out, of the 51st Grammy Awards, on Sunday, February 8. The Remote Station provided video editing and compression capabilities for the webcast stream, which was available live from www.grammy.com from 1:00 to 3:45 pm PST, from the Los Angeles Convention Center. The stream was also made accessible as an on-demand feed for 30 days following the event.

The Remote Station, consisting of a road-ready HD editing system secured in two Anvil style road cases, was installed by Media Distributors’ Nathan Adams in the Fox Sports Bar of the Staples Center. Each Remote Station includes a high-end Panasonic SD/HD-SDI video monitor; Genelec reference speakers; Mackie audio mixer, and customized, latest-generation Apple Mac Pros running Final Cut Studio 2. The detachable accessory-case lid features folding legs to form a comfortable and sturdy editing desk for on-location use.

“The production values of live television are now being married with state-of-the-art digital streaming production capabilities for a growing audience. The Remote Station was designed for high-volume, high-quality assets in a rapid turnaround environment, and the Grammys have set a new bar for entertainment shows that offer live off-line or simulcast streams,” said Steve Klein, CEO of Media Distributors. “The solution that we delivered for the Grammys is ideal for digitizing, editing, and compressing footage for a range of on-location needs. We expect that this kind of multi-platform endeavor will be a staple of live event programming and the Remote Station will be there for production crews that need the benefits of a full post-production facility on the road.”
