MELODIS Partners With XING To Expand Its Midomi.com Database Of Searchable Music With Popular JOYSOUND Karaoke Songs

Bookmark and Share

Pioneering search and sound recognition company MELODIS Corporation announced that it has partnered with XING INC., a majority-owned unit of Brother Industries Ltd, to expand midomi.com, its industry-leading database of searchable music. Under the partnership agreement, XING will contribute more than 100,000 midi files from its JOYSOUND collection of popular karaoke songs to the midomi.com music database, and add around 1,000 new songs each month.

"MELODIS has developed the most powerful music search engine in the world, and we must continually enhance our database of searchable music in order to drive it," said Kamyar Mohajer, Vice President of Strategy and Planning for MELODIS Corporation. "Through our new partnership with XING, we will be able to complement our user-generated midomi.com database by regularly updating it with thousands of popular songs that people want to sing and search." Midomi.com is a vibrant social networking destination for music lovers all over the world. It allows users to contribute songs in their own voices, listen to and rate other users' contributions to the midomi music database, and browse member profiles, photographs, biographies, preferences and playlists. MELODIS's unique music search technology also enables users to find songs by singing, humming, speaking, typing or playing original music sources into their mobile devices. With new songs in 33 languages added by members each day, midomi.com has already become the largest searchable music database in the world. As part of the partnership agreement, XING plans to incorporate MELODIS's singing and humming search capabilities into its JOYSOUND web site, enhancing online music searches for its own user community.

"MELODIS has emerged as a next-generation sound recognition leader by providing unique search capabilities that allow users to discover music by singing and humming," said Yukio Nakatani, director and general manager of Entertainment Business Division of XING INC. "Our partnership with MELODIS gives us the opportunity to leverage this advanced technology, as well as contribute to it by adding our JOYSOUND midi files to the world's most comprehensive music database on a continuing basis."
