The Connctive Panel Series On Music Publishing
Website: http://www.jenniewalker.com PRESS RELEASE DATE: March 30, 2008 The Connective Panel Series hosts it’s next panel on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in Harlem at Opus 118 Harlem School of Music at 103 125th Street (at Park Avenue) in New York City at 7:00 p.m. The Connective Panel Series serves to educate indie musicians on the music business, serve as a networking opportunity, and serve to raise awareness and funds for the Artist Against Hunger & Poverty Program of WHY (World Hunger Year), and Opus 118 Harlem School of Music. The Panel Topic is “How To Get Your Music Placed With A Music Publisher & The Publisher’s Role in the A&R Process.” Panelist include: Richard Stumpf, Sr. VP, Creative & Marketing, Cherry Lane Music Publishing, Dave Hoffman, Creative Director, Shapiro Bernstein Music Publishing, and others TBD. Jennie Walker is the founder of the Connective Panel Series and will serve as the panel moderator. Jennie is a member of WHY’s Artists Against Hunger & Poverty Program & ASCAP. At Shapiro Bernstein he is an A&R rep, TV/Film/Advertising placement person, song plugger and also acts as copyright manager. The catalog ranges from classics including "In The Mood" and "Ring Of Fire" to current hits including "Too Little Too Late" and "Put Your Records On.” Prior to becoming a full time publisher, David was a professional drummer with the popular instrumental funk/jamband ulu, touring upwards of 250 nights a year. Before hitting the road, David worked at BMI and Giant Step Inc. RICHARD STUMPF Richard Stumpf has been at Cherry Lane Music since 2001. As Senior Vice President Creative and Marketing, Richard oversees writer signings and content acquisitions. He also collaborates with fellow senior management on business development strategy, including the implementation of strategic joint ventures. He oversees the Marketing team, who are responsible for identifying and negotiating song placement opportunities for film & television, advertisements, records, and new media outlets. Before joining Cherry Lane, Richard held management positions with numerous entertainment-related companies including EMI - Capitol Records, MCY Music, PC Artist Management, and Musicland. Creatively, Richard also has experience as a live sound engineer and performing musician. Throughout his career he has produced and marketed projects incorporating artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Wolfmother, The Who, Sammy Hagar, John Denver, NSYNC, Willie Nelson and others. Richard attended Binghamton University where he studied Marketing. He continued his education to receive his master's degree in Marketing from Pace University. JENNIE WALKER Jennie Walker, President & CEO of J. Walker, Inc., a New York based licensing, special event and charity consulting firm, is a singer, songwriter and volunteer who believes in the triple bottom line approach to business. As a member of the prestigious Artists Against Hunger & Poverty Program of World Hunger Year, she made a personal pledge to ensure that all of her musical performances, and music business activities have a charity component, where she can give back to the creative community. The Connective ™ Panel Series is her latest effort to provide quality education for the creative community and also raise awareness and funds for important charities. The Connective ™ Panel Series continues to work as a bridge between Ms. Walker’s two loves: music and charity. Jennie Walker is an Advisor and President Emeritus of the Georgia Music Industry Association (GMIA) where she produced monthly music education panels, song critiques, Open Mic Night’s as well as an annual Country Music Songwriters Showcase and an all genre Songwriters Showcase, during Georgia Music Week Festivities. She was awarded GMIA’s President’s Award for volunteer service in 1997. She has also appeared on top radio and TV programs such as WBAI, HOT 97.5 FM Atlanta, Good News Broadcast, and Good Day Atlanta. Walker also helped to produce the 2006 charity album “Serve” for World Hunger Year and The Hard Rock Café, which features the artists Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith, as well as numerous other top recording artists. Jennie Walker is a member of ASCAP, The Recording Academy, The National Association of Record Industry Professionals, The Music Managers Forum US, and The Association of Independent Music Publishers.
